The other day I was talking to some sweet people about the power of going plant-based…

Their questions were so genuine. One of them asked… “why is it so important that we take action?”.

There are so many reasons so my first thought was “why not?”.

But then I had another thought…

Veganism is the right thing to do and it does transform your health, save animals, and it even saves our earth but the friends sitting in front of me already knew that and even cared about it yet, they didn’t take action…

So instead of saying “why not go vegan ya loser?” I responded with kindness…

“Veganism is making a commitment to yourself that you will take action on your beliefs”.

When we stop just saying that we want to save animals or eat healthier and actually DO something about it that’s when we become powerful people!!!

Anyone can understand the reality but very very few will take action. And if you aren’t taking action, that’s ok but start! Start for yourself! Take action on what you believe and watch how that transforms and grows you!

So you might be asking… “How do I take action?”

I recommend starting simply! Here are some options for those of you wanting to take plant-based action…

🌿 Implement Meatless Mondays
🌿 Start eating one 100% plant-based meal a day
🌿 Start meal prepping to incorporate more plants and less processed foods

The secret to transforming your health isn’t another restrictive diet...

It’s quitting the gimmicks and nourishing your body with real food!

January is THE month that everyone starts a new dieting plan. I use to fall into that group.
I would join a gym, meal prep, and eat only salad for 3 weeks and by the fourth, I was SO over it.

Nowadays I have another resolution... Nourishment... I don’t care what the scale says or what everyone else is doing. I’m gonna take care of my body by eating real, plant-based food because I love my body!

Throw out the rules and start eating your plants.
Believe me, if you eat better you feel better!

I’ve never been so thankful for these two.

I am so blessed to be a part of a family as diverse, crazy, fun, and kind as this one. When I married Gabriel I knew we would create a beautiful life and let me just say friends, the reality has way exceeded my expectation.

Here’s just a reminder to love the ones you are with...

Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing with their family or try to get into this competition of who has a “better” life...
Love the ones you’re with, friend!!!

Our December mood 🎄❄️🌟⁣

Raise your hand if you can not believe we are headed into 2022! It's insane.⁣

I feel like I'm still processing 2020.⁣

And if you feel the same way keep reading...⁣
A lot of times we let December go by without really being intentional with it.⁣
Something that I would really recommend prioritizing this month is pressing into self-kindness.⁣
I like to use self-kindness rather than self-care because I think self-care can often be seen as just face masks and robes. But let me just go ahead and say that self-kindness is so much more than that. ⁣

Self-kindness is so important when we're processing hard things and changing up a new season.⁣

So if you are struggling to process this new year that's coming. Here are three things that you can put into your regular routine. Three things I want you to do to practice self-kindness this month.⁣

🎄 Process with journaling and or prayer.⁣
This is so essential because when we're trying to process things we often try to just skip past them versus actually dealing with them so journaling, praying, talking to a friend, getting coffee with your family, whatever you need to do to process what you're going through.⁣

🎄 Move your body intentionally⁣
I have been trying to push into workouts and just fun walks and stretching because I often neglect this in the last month of the year. And if you do the same thing, I would highly suggest doing this not out of punishment for eating too much in your Christmas party, but out of intentional and self-kindness to take care of yourself.⁣

🎄 Stop waiting till the new year!⁣
It is so easy to get into the "I'll start in January" mentality this time of year but here's the truth... 85% of New years resolutions end before February. I don't want that for you, friend! If you want to take care of your body, eat healthier, exercise, or be more intentional start imperfectly today not January 1st.  ⁣

As we go into this holiday week I want you to know that I'm thinking about you...⁣
Being the only vegan around your table this holiday season is hard.⁣

​Here are my 3 tips for being the only vegan at the table…
​⁣
🍂 Bring food for everyone to enjoy.⁣
Don't be the person in the corner eating your own salad! Bring a vegan dish that everyone is going to like, maybe something like mashed potatoes, a lentil loaf or a pumpkin pie. It is important to bring vegan foods that everybody would like.⁣
You do not have to tell them it's vegan!!!⁣
​⁣
🍂 Have conversations about things that are not veganism.⁣
Now I know when we go vegan we want to tell everybody because it's changed our lives. But, we don't have to talk about it to everybody! When somebody asks you about it in a loving way have an open conversation with them about it! However, I always try to stay clear of that conversation piece because it makes for a better holiday for everyone.⁣
People can often get defensive when veganism comes up. Keeping away from this topic will protect you and your holiday.⁣

🍂 Take time for yourself.⁣
During the holidays I can get into the habit of spending too much time with my family. I hardly ever get to see them and when I do I want to take advantage of my time with them. However, this usually ends in be feeling sleep deprived and struggling to do all the things.⁣
​Rest and take care of yourself because when we are kind to ourselves, we can be kind to others!​⁣ You can journal, pray, read, workout or do anything that helps you process.

It wasn't easy on me. ⁣

Veganism isolated me, forced me to miss out on a lot of fun, and even lost me some friendships. ⁣

⁣I actually started thinking I'd stop after a year.⁣⁣

I'm so glad I didn't. ⁣⁣

Want to know the one thing that kept me going after that year and all of the difficulty? ⁣⁣

A strong why... ⁣⁣

You see, your why determines how well you follow through. ⁣
If you have a strong why you'll keep going even if the going get's tough. ⁣⁣

There are usually 3 main reasons anyone would go vegan... ⁣⁣

🌿 Your Health⁣⁣
🌿 The animals⁣
🌿 The environment⁣⁣

The funny thing about veganism is that you usually start for one thing then you develop a heart for the other two! ⁣⁣

Transitioning overnight isn't always possible so my advice is to start small and decide on one animal product to stop consuming today. Every week or month challenge yourself to stop buying another product until you are completely plant-based vegan! ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

🌿Get your go to's ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

Finding meals that are easy, healthy, and enjoyable is so important to this lifestyle change. Don't overcomplicate this transition, you can keep it simple actually I prefer it that way! ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

This little exercise is so important as you set off on your journey to plant-based living. Having a reason behind your actions helps you follow through and preserver even when it's hard. ⁣⁣⁣

If you don't have a strong reason why you started this you don't really have any reason to continue it. Write a little phrase down about why you want this and keep it in front of you, don't forget this why! ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

Well, that IG break was longer than expected😳⁣

Hey there, friends! It's been a minute! ⁣

I hope you have been doing SO well and have continued to take steps towards thriving on plants in your own way! ⁣

This last month has been so full of mundane, fun, and beautiful life that I had to log off to experience it because as much as we try, we can't share our whole lives on social media. ⁣

And I would suggest that the best things are the ones that go unshared. ⁣
It's the morning coffee, puppy snuggle, late-night conversations, and family car rides that make life beautiful and those are the moments I try SO hard to keep sacred. ⁣

That all being said, I'm back to help you on your plant-based journey and I am SO excited about that but, just know that while I "fell off the face of the earth" I was simply living my beautiful mundane moments and couldn't be bothered to share them. ⁣

I do have a few updates for you, friend! Stay tuned because I will be sharing all about what's been going on with Zkwellness in the next few days! ⁣
