Gretchen returns from Portland, Oregon to the Sierra Nevada Foothills to join the Auburn Naturopathic Medicine team. She recently graduated from the National College of Natural Medicine with a Masters of Science in Nutrition. Her past schooling took place in Santa Cruz, CA where she studied psychology, she received her bachelors in Elementary Education from UNR and has a foundational degree in Anthroposophy - the study of human wisdom - from the Rudolf Steiner College in Fair Oaks, CA. The synergy of these studies has culminated in her passion to teach or reteach practices of wellness. Gretchen believes in patient empowerment to engage the individual’s intuition throughout his/her healing process. She believes that all people deserve happiness and wellness; through a relationship with whole foods and an intimate respect for one’s body a foundation for such can be built. Her practice is based upon whole foods nutrition to heal or maintain vitality for: Weight management, Diabetes, Elevated blood pressure, CVD, Food allergies and sensitivities, G.I distress, Pregnancy and infancy, Childhood and adolescence, and optimal wellness. This relationship with the outdoors sparked her passions of trail running, cycling, backpacking, herbalism, farming and kayaking. She is more than excited to return to the Lotus/Auburn/Placerville community and feels blessed to work alongside knowledgeable doctors and healers at Auburn Naturopathic Medicine.
