We’re saddened to learn of James Van Der Beek’s passing at the young age of 48. We are holding his loved ones in our thoughts. His story is a powerful reminder that colon cancer can affect anyone, and that early screening truly saves lives.

If you’re 45 or older (or have a family history), talk to your doctor about getting screened. It’s one of the most effective ways to catch cancer early, when it’s most treatable. 💙

James used his voice to encourage others to pay attention to even small changes and prioritize their health. Honoring his legacy means doing the same, for ourselves and for the people we love.

James Van Der Beek has died. A heartthrob who starred in coming-of-age dramas at the dawn of the new millennium, shooting to fame playing the titular character in “Dawson’s Creek,” and in later years mocked his own hunky persona, Van Der Beek was 48.

January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. DYK there are steps you can take today to help prevent cervical cancer?

- The HPV vaccine (administered between 9-14 years old) protects against six types of cancer, including cervical cancer.

- Regular screening with Pap smears and HPV tests helps catch changes early when they’re easiest to treat.

HPV vaccination and screening work together to protect your health. Talk to your health care provider about staying up to date on both.
