Focusing on the boundless patterns that form our periphery, this show highlights the impressive talents in photography, composition and digital retouching that reside here. You’ll find the pieces really pull you in! This show closes on Thursday, April 9th.

Showing off their moves in the Bradford Living Room is our Saturday morning Line Dance Class. Popularized by the Country music genre, line dancing has since broadened its appeal. And by combining low-impact cardio with coordination and memory stimulation, dancers reap both mind and body benefits. Ready to join in? All together now ... cross-back-side-front.

Dipping into their crafty side, our potters recently went all in creating snack trays, many incorporating dip pits. Instruction included both hand-formed and wheel-spun techniques ... and check out these cool designs. There’s no glazing over the creativity that resides here!

Fine chocolate? Velvety red wine? Yes, and yes! Attendance at our recent Chocolate & Wine tasting reflects the popularity and attraction of pairing these two sensorial delights. From a silky Pinot with milk chocolate to a powerful Cab with dark high-cacao chocolate, residents tasted and tipped to their hearts’ content, enjoying moments of pure harmony with each pairing.

Residents had a stompin’ good time on Fat Tuesday with Philly Stomp cranking out some great vintage New Orleans jazz on the Shannondell stage. Many thanks to Ed Wise, Dave Posmontier, Charly Salinger and Stan Slotter among other band members. Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Who can resist white and dark chocolate covered strawberries and other desserts from the heart ... just in time for the feast of Saint Valentine? Based on all the residents who attended our first Epicurean class of the new year, very few can deny their sweet tooth. To all ... a happy Valentine’s Day!

Even if you’ve never frolicked in the autumn mist, you’re likely familiar with, if not a fan of, the popular ‘60s group Peter, Paul & Mary. Which is why A Band called Honalee is always so well received by residents. Returning recently to the Shannondell stage, band members Sarah Randall Hunt, Chris Ware and Eli Zoller honored the folk group their name stems from with favored songs along with works by Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Dylan and other artists from the era. It’s a performance that, truly, leaves you at “peace.”

It was another masterful concert by world-renowned violinist David Kim, recently, on the Shannondell Performing Arts Theater stage. Playing to a packed house and accompanied by our Concert Series artistic director Jeffrey Uhlig on piano, the concertmaster of The Philadelphia Orchestra performed works from both the Classical Era and the Romantic. We always appreciate his appearances, his praises of our theater, his incredible talents, and we simply say, “thank you, Mr. Kim, thank you!”

Our talented resident artists recently kicked off the new year with a vibrant exhibit in the Shannondell Art Gallery. Featuring their latest works across multi-mediums, it’s further proof of the incredible talent that resides here. Be sure to stop by the Gallery, located on the lobby level of Ashcroft clubhouse, before the exhibit closes February 19th ... and thank the artists you recognize!

At 99, he’s still serving up “aces!” Our resident tennis players celebrated David’s recent birthday with a few games followed by a cake and balloons. From all of us at Shannondell, a BIG HBD David!

There was most definitely a party goin’ on right here! Enjoying our Disco-flavored New Year’s Eve celebration last week in both clubhouses, residents and staff got-down to the music of the Smyser & Lis and Brian Horoho bands while toasting and tasting the night away. Party hats and Travolta poses all around!

Let the countdown begin to a New Year’s Eve Celebration where our residents can “Boogie Oogie Oogie ‘til we just can’t boogie no more!” Looking forward to seeing everyone for an evening of Disco Fever in both clubhouse living rooms. Bell-bottoms and leisure suits encouraged but not required ... unless you want to increase the odds you’ll make next week’s pics post.
