Kelly Blackwell, MA, CCC-SLP is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist located in Central Maine.

Kelly graduated from the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Arts in 2010, and a Master of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2012. She has received her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Hearing Association (ASHA), and maintains annual membership through the completion of continued education/training in the field of speech pathology. Today was the last day of speech therapy services for the academic-year! I am thankful for memories made with wonderful kiddos, new skills learned, and many shared play-based activities.

🌟May Speech Star🌟

Weston began speech therapy in March, and is making steady gains in the awareness/accuracy of speech sound targets! This client has consistently worked hard to begin producing ‘sh’, ‘ch’, and ‘r’ without distortion. Weston is excited to attend weekly sessions, and enjoys participating in various play-based activities, including: board games, coloring/painting, iPad, and sensory bins. Weston is kind, funny, hard working, and a great problem-solver.

I consider myself lucky to be working with this awesome kiddo. Proud of you, Weston! 👏🏼🗣️🫶🏼

🌟March & April Speech Stars🌟

Dax is excited when it is his turn to attend therapy, and enjoys participating in a variety of play-based activities, including: painting, Paw Patrol toys, sensory bins, and board games. This client shares kind words and helpful actions each session. Dax has been working hard on accurately producing several target speech sounds, to include: ‘k, g, l’ and final consonants.

Stella recently began therapy, and has already shown steady gains in producing target, ‘s’, without distortion in vowel combinations and at the single-word level. This client attends sessions with enthusiasm, and actively particpates in various play-based materials, to include: coloring, board games, and iPad. Stella is kind and always tries her best during each session.

🎓Graduation Day!🎓

Ethan has been receiving monthly consultation services following discharge from regular, weekly sessions, in order to address continued concerns with specific speech sounds.

This kiddo has attended each session with enthusiasm, kindness, and humor! Ethan has worked hard, and is now producing ‘r’ and ‘th’ sounds consistently during conversational speech.

I am going to miss seeing this client— he is a JOY! Very proud of you, Ethan! 🌟

Tommy is excited to attend speech therapy sessions and enjoys participating in a variety of play-based activities, including: coloring, playdoh, board games, and iPad. This client works hard on targeted speech sounds, /s, l, k, g/ and l-blends, and has shown increased awareness and accuracy of productions during recent sessions! Tommy is a great friend, and always lends a helping hand and kind words during sessions.

📣Blackwell Speech Therapy Turns Three!

This business has been a dream come true for me and our family. It has allowed us the freedom to prioritize Joel’s health post-stem cell transplant, and while he currently undergoes a new treatment plan in Boston. This journey has certainly presented challenges along the way, but we know that we are stronger because of them.

I consider it a privilege to provide a safe space for clients to attend sessions, learn, and have fun while meeting their speech-language goals.

Thank you to the wonderful families and educators who we collaborate with frequently in order to provide the best possible care in therapy.

We are looking forward to many more years serving our community with quality speech-language services.

Yetis & Arctic Animals were our play-based therapy themes to begin the new year! 🐻‍❄️👣🐧

It was fun to discuss goals with clients; they always amaze me with solid understanding of their therapy targets! We reminded ourselves that sometimes, things feel hard at first, but become easier with practice and teamwork!

•Books: ‘Polar Bear Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?’ and ‘The Power of Yeti’// labeling & describing actions
•Crafts: Penguin Snip & Stick and ‘Yeti’ for a New Year in Speech// target speech sounds
•Imaginative/Cooperative Play: Arctic Magnatiles and Yeti in My Spaghetti// phonological patterns, turn-taking, and grammatical markers

🌟December Speech Star🌟

Colton is such an awesome kiddo! He is excited to attend sessions and participate in a variety of play-based therapy activities, to include: coloring, Legos, board games, Pokemon cards, and the iPad. Colton’s sound awareness has increased, and he is able to accurately describe what is required of his acticulators (e.g., tongue, jaw, lips, etc.) to increase the accuracy of /r/ and vocalic-R targets. Accuracy at the syllable- and word- levels are beginning to emerge. This client is kind, and always willing to lend a helping hand during sessions.
