PsychArmor is proud to announce that Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits are now available for the course Caring for Veterans Through the End of Life: Healthcare Provider.
Today, there are more than 9 million Veterans in the United States over the age of 65, and that number continues to grow. Healthcare providers across hospice, palliative care, primary care, behavioral health, and community health settings are increasingly caring for Veterans and their families through serious illness, end of life, and grief. Yet many providers report they have never received training on military culture, Veteran experiences, or how service, trauma, and identity can influence end-of-life care.
The Caring for Veterans Through the End of Life learning collection was developed to help close this gap and to provide healthcare professionals with practical, culturally responsive, and compassionate approaches to caring for Veterans and their caregivers during one of the most important times in life.
This collection was developed with Dr. Qwynn Galloway-Salazar serving as Lead Advisor and creator of the collection, alongside a team of expert Trusted Advisors: Stephanie L Andrews, LMSW, Danielle Applegate, Erin Collins, MN RN CHPN, Larry Hetu-Robert, M.Div., Ashely Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson, Elena Prendergast, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, ACHPN, and Karen Wyatt, MD., helping bring together clinical insight, lived experience, and community-based perspectives to better support Veterans and their families through serious illness, end of life, and grief.
The addition of CME credits represents an important step in continuing to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to care for those who have served our country with dignity, understanding, and compassion.
We encourage healthcare organizations, hospices, hospitals, and training programs to share this course with their staff and clinical teams as part of their ongoing professional development and Veteran-centered care training.
