Reproductive health care is so much more than one service or one visit. In 2025 alone, we administered 19,820 STI tests, 3,704 HIV tests, and 2,473 cervical cancer screenings — the kind of preventive care that catches problems early, keeps people healthy, and simply isn't available everywhere in our state.
For many Mainers, especially those in rural communities, we are the only place they can access this care. That's not something we take lightly. ❤️‍🔥

Thank you, Governor Janet Mills, for standing firm against Trump's latest attack on reproductive rights.

The Trump Administration has launched a "compliance review" of Maine's law requiring health insurance plans to cover abortion care. After the announcement, she shared: "Maine will not be intimidated nor will we back down from defending reproductive freedoms."

This "compliance review" is a pressure tactic. Governor Mills is calling it exactly what it is.

A bill currently before the Maine Legislature would provide critical support to ensure we can continue to provide Mainers with high-quality, affordable reproductive healthcare.

These numbers represent real people — Mainers who came to us for reproductive health care, STI testing, cancer screenings, and more. Most of them qualified for free or reduced-fee services, and for many, we were their only option.

This is the care put at risk by federal funding cuts.

Maine Family Planning is calling on the state of Maine to step in and fill that gap — because this work is too important to let political decisions in Washington determine whether Mainers can access reproductive, s*xual health, and family planning care.
