Turtle season is HERE!!!! Be a good person, be on the lookout, and if you see a turtle stop and help it get across the road -- in the direction it is going!!! If you see an injured turtle get it medical care!
Carolina Wildlife Center at 5551 Bush River Road Columbia SC 29212 is open EVERY DAY from 9-6

Officer James Bishop was hard at work when he spotted a turtle attempting to cross the police department’s large, busy parking lot. Not wanting the animal to become injured, he took the time to relocate it to a place of safety.

As the weather continues to get warmer, all manner of wildlife, including reptiles, will be on the move. Motorists are asked to drive carefully and be on the lookout for animals crossing the island’s roadways. Residents and guests are also reminded to stay aware of their surroundings near bodies of fresh or brackish water, as our area is also home to both snakes and alligators!
