On this day in 1897, Sir Ronald Ross discovered that female mosquitoes transmit malaria — a breakthrough that changed the course of global health.

Today, we honor that discovery by raising awareness about mosquito-borne diseases like:
🦟 Malaria
🦟 Dengue
🦟 Zika
🦟 West Nile Virus

Protect yourself and your community:
✔️ Eliminate standing water
✔️ Use insect repellent
✔️ Install or repair window screens
✔️ Wear long sleeves when outdoors

From local vector control to global disease prevention, public health teams are on the front lines protecting communities every day.
Let’s keep the buzz going — share a tip or thank your local public health team below!

Don't let mosquitoes take a bite out of your summer!

West Nile Virus is spread by infected mosquitoes and can be serious—though most people have no symptoms, some may develop fever, headaches, or worse.

The best way to stay safe?
Tip ‘n Toss: Dump out standing water weekly from buckets, planters, birdbaths & more.

Got horses? There’s a vaccine available to protect them too!
