i almost died on that table.

and i still hear it
“at least you didn’t have to push”
“be thankful you never felt the ring of fire”

as if the trauma i just endured
wasn’t nearly enough
because my body didn’t push for it like theirs did

but it did

it pushed while i laid there
not knowing if i was okay
or if i was about to leave my kids without a mom

it pushed to keep me here

so yeah… it counts

whether it looked like yours or not
