Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mrs. Betty Lou Steele. The funeral service for Mrs. Steele will be at 4:00pm on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at the Dover Christian Church with Bro. Tony Liess officiating.

Interment will follow in the Rosemont Cemetery in Dover, Kentucky.

Visitation will be on Wednesday at the church from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

While we are saddened by the cancellation of Heritage Days, we are proud to continue the long-standing tradition of the Frog Derby. Clark Hennessey and his cousin Tay Kelsch created and co-founded the event in 1972, with sponsorship from George and Paul Kelsch—also known as Kelsch Bros. Grocery. Over the past 53 years, the Frog Derby has remained a crowd favorite, with the exception of one year during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We at Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral Home, along with the City of Augusta, are honored to hold this year’s event, which will take place on Sunday, August 31st at 4:00 p.m. on the Town Square—the intersection of Main and Second streets. Don’t forget to call 606-756-2270 beginning Friday, the weekend of the 31st to preregister your frog!
