Last week was National Nurses Week, but at CU Vascular we know that nurses need—and deserve—more than just a week to be celebrated.

As the SVS annual meeting approaches, we're feeling especially thankful for partner organization SVN—the Society for Vascular Nursing.

With former SVN leadership like Kristen Alix on our team, we feel confident in our nursing team every day.

After all, without nurses, where would any of us be?

It's common for people with Vascular conditions to not be familiar with their own vascular anatomy. So let's have a quick lesson!

🫀 Did you know the body's main artery is called the "aorta"? This artery supplies blood from the heart to the rest of the body.

🧑‍⚕️ Problems with the aorta, including Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms, are typically caused by atherosclerosis.

🚬 Atherosclerosis is a buildup of plaque in the arteries due to high cholesterol, smoking, diabetes, or lack of physical activity.

Being educated about your own health is essential for maintaining it. While we love to provide top-notch care for our patients, we prefer that you stay healthy enough to not need it in the first place 🩹
