🌟 Advancements in Cancer Survival Rates
Cancer survival rates have improved significantly across all age groups, including young adults. Here are the key findings:

1. Children and Adolescents:
The overall 5-year survival rates for childhood and adolescent cancers are as follows:
• Children younger than 1 year: 83.2%
• Ages 1–4 years: 87.8%
• Ages 5–9 years: 85.7%
• Ages 10–14 years: 85.5%
• Adolescents ages 15–19 years: 87.3%
Advances in treatments (chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery, and bone marrow transplants) have contributed to these positive trends.

2. Young Adults (Ages 20–42):
• While data specifically for ages 20–42 may vary, overall survival rates have improved.
• For teenagers and young adults (ages 15–24), the 5-year survival rate increased from 79% to 87% .
• Continued research and better treatment options play a crucial role in enhancing outcomes for this age group.

🌈 Let’s celebrate progress and continue supporting cancer research! 💪

Feel free to share this updated information with others! 😊

The University of Colorado Fertility Preservation and Reproductive Late Effects (CU FPRLE) program is located on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado. We serve patients from across Colorado and neighboring states through our programs at UCHealth and Children’s Hospital Colorado.

We are comprised of 13 multidisciplinary team members, including: Gynecology, Urology, Reproductive Endocrinology, Oncology, Internal Medicine, and Endocrinology for both pediatric and adult populations.

CU FPRLE provides consultation services for patients who have a diagnosis or anticipated treatment regimen that threatens future fertility. We frequently collaborate with the treatment team in addition to the fertility clinic to coordinate fertility preservation prior to treatment start. Fertility preservation options include: egg, embryo, and s***m freezing, ovarian transposition, ovarian tissue cryopreservation, and testicular tissue cryopreservation.

Our team has the capability of following a patient from diagnosis and fertility preservation to seeing the patient throughout treatment for reproductive health related concerns, and also in survivorship, too. We can’t wait to share more with you about our work and the research we are doing to help future fertility preservation efforts! Visit our website for more information on how to schedule an appointment or refer a patient to us!
