We have a very special Spring add-on, JUST scheduled for this coming April, witches! Join published author Anna Urošević Applegate for a night showcasing her new book, “Slava! Slavic Paganism and Dual-Faith Folk Ways.”

Join us after-hours on Saturday April 25th for “Vipers’ Heads, Icons, and Black Knives (Oh my!): Slavic Witchcraft and Sorcery”

“From the lands that include Europe’s last remaining Old Growth forests comes a rich and diverse tapestry of magical practices and beliefs woven by unassuming elders of remote Eastern European villages as well as bustling city centers.

These Slavic folk witches, healers, midwives, sorcerers, and diviners go by a variety of terms in their respective Slavic countries but they all serve as the bearers of a thriving Dual-Faith Tradition that merges elements of Slavic Paganism with Eastern Orthodox Christianity. In this lecture Anna will answer questions such as:

* Are Slavic witches born or made?
* What do they do?
* What are their preferred tools, whether obtained from the natural world or handcrafted?
* What kinds of spiritual beings are they affiliated with?
* Were there witch trials in Slavic lands?
* What are the witches’ days of power?
* What are some examples of spells Slavic magical workers are hired to perform for their clients today?

Copies of Anna’s book will be available for purchase in the storefront, with a meet-and-greet book signing following class!”

This week’s “Ingredient of the Week” spotlight is a compliment to last week’s feature, witches. When you pick up your lodestone, it’s essential to also grab some Magnetic Sand!

Magnetic sand, also known as Limadura, are iron filings that are used to feed and re-energize your lodestones. The iron filings can be sprinkled on lodestones to display their magnetic energy, and dressing or “feeding” the lodestones with a light dusting of these iron filings can prevent them from “starving”.

Magnetic sand is a powerful ritual ingredient commonly used in Afro-Caribbean, hoodoo, and folk magic traditions. Known for their magnetic properties, these particles are ideal for spellwork related to attraction, power, protection, and prosperity. Often used to enhance mojo bags, sachets, or charge spiritual tools, magnetic sand helps draw and hold the energy of your intentions.

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it” (George Santayana, 1905).

Join us on Friday April 10th for the Lecture Series debut of, “History of Witchcraft: Early Modern Europe and the Rise of the ‘Satanic’ Witch.”

“We’ve all seen the changing landscape around us. Cultural, ideological, and religious movements that seem increasingly pointed, violent, and focusing more and more on “the wise folk”... witches. We’ve been here before, and there are lessons to be learned and applied to today’s chaotic and increasingly hostile world.

In this lecture, Shop Witch Adrian will cover the period of history many witches consider “the burning times” - that moment in European history punctuated by religious violence and extremism from 1500-1700, where Protestant and Catholic forces mustered the might of nations to fight each other, witches, and “the devil himself.” Learn what inquisitorial records detailed about the witches’ sabbaths and how gifted familiar spirits would feed upon their witch hosts. Thrill to stories of resistance and revolution, plots of murder via poison, and more than one witchy royal affair, all chronicled by historians and records of their time.”

Tickets for this lecture have already been extremely popular in early season sales! Get yours while they last. Tickets are available in-store and online.

They are also commonly used in manifestation spell work, as the natural magnetic energy of the stone amplifies your intentions and help bring your desires to fruition.

Lodestones are believed to possess protective properties. They can be placed in homes, on altars, or carried to ward off negativity and prevent unwanted energies from entering the space.
