This year, CAFP made a real difference for Colorado physicians and the communities they serve.
✔️ Non-compete clauses in physician contracts are now prohibited (SB-83)
✔️ Stigmatizing mental health questions have been removed from medical licensure applications (HB-1176)
These changes help protect physician well-being, strengthen the workforce, and improve access to care across Colorado. Thank you to our members, partners, and champions who made this progress possible.

Warm holiday wishes from all of us at CAFP. Thank you for caring for Colorado all year long. 🎁✨

Speak Out! Take action now and urge your members of Congress via a letter or a call to reject government interference in medical care. Speak out here: https://fammedpac.aafp.org/take-action/alertid/646/

The AAFP is unwavering in its support for evidence-based, science-backed care for all. We oppose any policies that jeopardize patients’ ability to receive necessary treatment or criminalize physicians for providing it.

"For most family physicians, our commitment to providing hepatitis B vaccination to newborns remains the same today as it was before the CDC’s ACIP voted last week to change a longstanding recommendation.

We will still have conversations with our patients about the vaccine. We will still address their concerns with empathy. And then, as we always have, we will still provide hepatitis B vaccination to newborns when we and the parents align in shared decision-making."

Last week, AAFP stated that it strongly supports maintaining universal HepB vaccination at birth and that removing that recommendation could result in thousands of chronic HepB infections, leading to severe complications like liver cancer and death. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment also released a statement recommending that health care providers continue to offer the vaccine to all newborns at birth. Read the Colorado press release here. https://cdphe.colorado.gov/press-release/continued-universal-hepatitis-b-vaccination-for-newborns

Removing the universal recommendation for Hepatitis B vaccination could result in thousands of chronic HepB infections, leading to severe complications like liver cancer and death. The AAFP strongly supports maintaining universal HepB vaccination at birth, and we call on CDC to ensure this safety net continues to protect newborns and life-saving protection remains the standard of care.
