At the foot of the Cross, it was the women who stayed.
When many had scattered, Mary the mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and other women remained near the Cross, watching in grief and in love (John 19:25). Later, Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus took His body down, wrapped Him in linen, and laid Him in the tomb (John 19:38–42).
The men handled the body, but the women carried the weight.
That same quiet, faithful strength is still at work today in the funeral world. Here in Colorado, we are blessed by women who stand in that sacred space between grief and hope—women who answer the phone at midnight, sit with families in their tears, and make sure every detail is handled with dignity and love.
One of those women is Sister Lequita Taylor.
For more than two decades, she has served families through Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services with a survivor’s strength, a mother’s heart, and a servant’s spirit.
Tonight, we honor her, and every woman and every man who serves in the funeral profession.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, thank You for those who stand in the shadows of sorrow and shine Your light—women like Sister Lequita Taylor, and every man and woman who serves in funeral homes, mortuaries, and cremation services. You see the tears they witness, the late-night calls they answer, and the heavy stories they carry.
Strengthen their minds, bodies, and spirits. Guard their hearts as they walk with families through the valley of grief. Give them wisdom in every decision, gentleness in every conversation, and compassion in every detail. Let Your peace rest on them as they help others find peace.
Bless every woman and man in this calling with rest when they are weary, joy in the middle of tears, and fresh grace for every family they touch.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen. 🙏
With faith and love,
Brother Michael & Sister Lequita Taylor
