Family Counseling Service

Family Counseling Service Helping people in our community navigate behavioral health challenges and develop the ability to thrive since 1925.

Serving more than 4,000 families in the Fox Valley area each year, FCS provides youth mentoring services as well as behavioral healthcare for all ages. Our goal is simple: help people learn the skills they need to succeed in life. From children and adolescents learning the life skills, to helping families and individuals learn to manage the symptoms of a mental health problem, our goal is to strengthen our community, one person at a time.

Today we celebrate the incredible graduates of the Kendall County Drug Court program, including five who have received services through Family Counseling Service. Pictured here are FCS Therapists & Staff who went to the graduation ceremony to celebrate these graduates.

Their journey hasn’t been easy. They’ve chosen the harder path of opening themselves to counseling, feeling the feelings instead of numbing the pain, and committing to lasting change. Along the way, they’ve faced and overcome addiction, incarceration, homelessness, and many other challenges.

We’re honored to have been part of their growth and inspired by their courage, determination, and resilience. Here’s to the next chapter of their lives, and the very bright futures they’re creating. 🌟

✨ 100th Anniversary History Series ✨

Did you know that in 1947, we opened the Mental Hygiene Clinic—a groundbreaking program at the time, designed to help local residents address mental health issues?

This clinic laid the groundwork for the comprehensive behavioral health services we offer today, ensuring our community could access professional care and support close to home.

Founded in Aurora nearly 100 years ago, we are our community’s nonprofit agency that helps any and all of our neighbors achieve emotional well-being. With community support, our diverse programs strengthen our entire community by helping courageous people - including schoolchildren, families, and seniors, from every socioeconomic segment - to overcome the emotional barriers that hold them back from their life goals.
