FVSRA participants returned from an unforgettable adventure to Springfield and Starved Rock last week! 🚌🍂 Our trip was filled with history, friendship, and fall beauty as we explored the Lincoln Presidential Library, toured both the old and new Capitol Buildings, and visited Lincoln’s home and gravesite.

Shoutout to State Representative Matt Hanson for welcoming us to the Capitol and showing us around!

We also added some fun at Malibu Jack’s and enjoyed a hike surrounded by autumn colors at Starved Rock State Park. Another adventure in the books!

🍂 Thank you to everyone who joined us for Fall Fun at Blackberry Farm!

We were thrilled to welcome a record 158 participants for an afternoon of connection and seasonal activities. Families enjoyed exploring the park, riding the carousel, and enjoying autumn while caregivers had the chance to network.

🚐 Introducing “Party,” the newest addition to the FVSRA fleet, named by participant Alaina Zocher!

At this year’s BBQ, Root Beer, and Basket Raffle, Alaina won the chance to name our brand-new accessible bus. Her love for bus rides with friends and her joyful spirit inspired the name “Party”, because for Alaina, every ride feels like one filled with laughter, music, and friendship.

🙌 A huge thank you to the Aurora Central Catholic Class of 2029 for spending their annual Day of Service with FVSRA! As part of their homecoming week, the freshmen volunteered their time and energy to support our programs and participants in meaningful ways.

Throughout the day, students contributed by picking up litter, cleaning buses and minivans, sanitizing SootheSpace sensory items, decorating lunch bags, and cleaning and organizing toys and equipment. They also spent time connecting with participants, playing board games with the DayBreak Adult Day Program and yard games with the STARS Adult Day Program.

We’re so grateful for their efforts and look forward to having them back next year!
