☀️ Spend the day with FVSRA at Family Fun Day! Join us on Saturday, August 9 from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Panton Mill Park in South Elgin for a free event filled with games, inflatables, bubbles, face painting, and more.

Whether you stop by for an hour or stay for the whole event, you’ll enjoy a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere where everyone can play, connect, and have fun together!

🏖️🌅 You're invited to join us Sunday, August 3 for our Sunset Swim at Hall Quarry Beach!

An evening designed just for families and caregivers, enjoy splash time, smiles, and sunshine from 6:30-8:00pm. Kids can play in the water while caregivers connect with others in a relaxed, welcoming environment. The event is FREE (but RSVP required) thanks to the FVSRA Caregiver Network and Rotary Club of Aurora United, Batavia Illinois Rotary Club, Batavia Mothers' Club Foundation and Fox Valley Special Recreation Foundation

🎉 Today is Park & Recreation Professionals Day! Behind every program, event, and meaningful moment at FVSRA is a team of dedicated people making it all happen.

We’re recognizing the 21 full-time and up to 300 part-time staff who bring our mission to life each day. From general and inclusion programs to special events and Foundation initiatives, their work ensures that individuals of all abilities can thrive through recreation.

🌱 July is also National Parks & Recreation Month, a time to celebrate the value this field brings to communities everywhere. We’re proud to be part of it and honored to serve our member communities through inclusive, thoughtful, and impactful programs.

🍕✨ Last week, these chefs cooked up some fun at our Kids Cooking program! After decorating their own aprons and chef hats, they rolled up their sleeves to craft personal pizzas and sweet desserts. Then, they got to enjoy their tasty creations with friends. Yum!

• Bubbles and sidewalk chalk
• Local food truck (bring cash!)

🌟 Meet Terin, our incredible intern this season at FVSRA! Terin brings passion, curiosity, and a love for connection to the field of Therapeutic Recreation.

• What’s your favorite food or go-to meal?
"I absolutely love anything chicken related. At a new restaurant, I always scan the menu for chicken options. And if it’s a place I’ve been before? You can bet I’m ordering my usual chicken dish!"

• What’s been your favorite part of the internship at FVSRA so far?
"My favorite part has been interacting with participants, chatting with them on my way in, learning about their day, and discovering all the little things we have in common like favorite music or colors. It’s a connection I truly value and look forward to every day."

• What excites you most about entering the Therapeutic Recreation field?
"I'm excited to make a positive impact by learning how to support each individual in the way that works best for them. It’s like a puzzle, every time a piece fits, it brings us one step closer to their goal. Seeing that progress is incredibly rewarding."

• Know your Rec1 login or create an account
• Complete your 2025–2026 Annual Information Form if you're new or didn’t participate this summer
• Update forms if needed: Seizure Info, Medication, Allergy/EpiPen, or Support and Transfer Request

💳 Important Note: As part of a system update, all saved credit and debit cards will be removed from Rec1 profiles. Please have your card ready to enter at checkout. This one-time update is being made to keep your payment information secure.

🌳 Yesterday, over 1,000 campers of all abilities joined us for Day in the Park 2025! This annual celebration of inclusion and community brought together participants from FVSRA Summer Day Camp and our amazing member agency camps:
Batavia Park District, Fox Valley Park District, Geneva Park District, Oswegoland Park District, Village of South Elgin, St. Charles Park District, & Sugar Grove Park District.

Campers spent the day enjoying bounce houses, train rides, obstacle courses, carnival games, a dunk tank, treats, and of course, laughter and fun! SootheSpace mobile sensory tent was also available for those needing a calming break.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our volunteers who helped make the day possible, we couldn’t do it without you! 💛

🌻 FVSRA’s SootheSpace will be setting up at the Windmill City Festival in Batavia this weekend!

Batavia's family‑friendly celebration is packed with live music, artisan booths, carnival rides, food trucks, local vendors, and more, including our very own calming sensory tent.

📍 Find us on the East side of the Peg Bond Center during these hours:
• Friday, July 11: 5–8 PM
• Saturday, July 12: 12–8 PM
• Sunday, July 13: 12–6 PM
