We loved hosting Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) students from different Douglas County School District high schools yesterday. They explored our undergrad nursing program, connected with current students, and toured our state-of-the-art simulation lab and the Anschutz campus. Our students did a great job sharing their experiences and answering questions! We enjoy hosting events like this to get people excited about nursing!

During National Nurse Practitioner Week and today, on Veterans Day, we want to give a special tribute to the late Loretta Ford. Her fiancé’s death in World War II inspired her to join the U.S. Army Air Force and she came to the University of Colorado School of Nursing on the G.I. Bill. She co-founded the nurse practitioner program in 1965 to address healthcare disparities in rural Colorado.

We also want to honor our faculty, staff, students, and alumni who served in the military. We are proud you’re part of the CU Anschutz Nursing Community and thank you for your service. Additionally, we want to thank our nurses who take care of our veterans in Colorado and across the U.S.
