Exciting news coming from CU College of Nursing! The college is expanding midwifery education with a new Master of Science in Midwifery program: https://zurl.co/AnWYT

The program was approved by the CU Board of Regents and is designed for students without a nursing degree to become midwives. We are thrilled to see CU Nursing working to make the profession more accessible and to increase access to midwifery care.

The University of Colorado Anschutz College of Nursing is expanding its midwifery education a new master of science in midwifery program.

🎉 Congratulations Dr. Sara Price! We’re excited to announce Dr. Price as our Interim Director of Midwifery and Women’s Health Services. Since joining the college in 2019, Dr. Price has served as the Practice Lead for University Nurse-Midwives: University of Colorado Hospital and taught in our midwifery program. Dr. Price is also a proud CU Nursing alum, having earned her DNP in 2024. We can’t wait to see all the amazing things she’ll accomplish!

We are pleased to welcome Alexandria Zayer to the CU Nursing University Nurse-Midwives practice!

Alexandria has over twenty years of experience in the medical field, primarily specializing in palliative and hospice nursing, which sparked her interest in midwifery care. Her role as a sexual assault nurse examiner motivated her to pursue further education in advanced practice. In 2020, she earned a master's degree in nursing-midwifery from the University of Colorado College of Nursing.

For the first four years of her midwifery career, Alexandria focused on enhancing her understanding of physiological birth by working at a freestanding birth center, away from a hospital setting. She is now excited to join the University Nurse-Midwives team and serve a larger, more diverse population. Alexandria is passionate about providing trauma-informed care to all, particularly to youth and survivors, and she has a specialty in supporting those who experience pregnancy loss.

In her free time, Alexandria enjoys spending time in nature, hiking, and camping with her husband, daughter, and dog. You can often find her sipping a cup of tea, relaxing, and recharging.

A chaotic day in UCHealth’s obstetric emergency department led to a “eureka” moment for CU Nursing’s Sara Price, CNM, WHNP-BC, MSN: finding a better and more streamlined way to treat patients needing midwifery care. She led a comprehensive training program that transformed the way things are run, leading to faster treatment times, an improved workplace culture, and a better experience for patients.
