1-2-3 Pediatrics

1-2-3 Pediatrics Solo practice, general pediatric care. 1-2-3 Pediatrics is a general pediatrics practice with a small-town flair with modern care.

We offer electronic medical record keeping to access and maintain your medical records from anywhere with data-- this helps us to provide top-notch quality care. Also, we provide free e-prescriptions to any pharmacy and 90-day prescription suppliers to make care more convenient for busy parents. Our usual sick visit time slots are 15 minutes; our well checks/ physical time slots are 30 minutes. We believe in not being rushed with our patients so that all the needs of our patients are met. Also, the aloted time slots help tremendously in low wait times in our office. For expecting parents, we also offer free "Meet-the-doctor" appointments before delivery, so you can see what our practice is actually like. We, at 1-2-3 Pediatrics, are always looking into new, innovative ways to provide the best care for your children.

Remember this May 1st post about physicals? We are getting busy with scheduling these. Currently scheduling time is about 2-3 weeks out, depending on flexibility of times (easier to get morning appointments than afternoons and evenings). May take longer if trying to schedule more than one child at the same time. If you reschedule your child's well check, please keep in mind that it may be 2-3 weeks for the next appointment. TRAVELERS: We are going to offer optional MMR vaccine to 6-11 month olds, depending on parental comfort and travel needs. Updated CDC guidelines for MMR vaccines: recommend early MMR vaccines starting at 6 months old for international travel or for travel to US endemic hot spots of measles outbreak.

Some private insurances may not cover an early MMR vaccine. You may call your insurance ahead of time to see if they cover CPT code 90707, NDC 0006-4681-00, for the MMR vaccine under 12 months old. You need to ask specifically "Under 12 months old."

To answer some parents questions:

No causation between vaccines and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). I’ve never had seen SIDS even with the thousands of vaccines I’ve ordered in over 20 years of practice, mainly because of the back to sleep (started in 1994) and the AAP recommendation for sleep in infants. SIDS rate significantly dropped since back to sleep recommendation despite increases in infant vaccines since this recommendation. So these variables are independent of each other.

There was a slight uptick in percentage of SIDS during pandemic years 2020-2022, but no new or increase of infant vaccines were recommended during these years. Again, independent variables.

Autism "increase" is due to better screening, diagnosis, and increased criteria for diagnosis. Many studies debunked causative relationship between vaccines and autism. Many studies have shown genetic pattern. Autism rates are similar for the vaccinated and unvaccinated.

Infant morality rates are on the rise in the US. But the breakdown show skewing of infant mortality rising fastest in lower socioeconomic background, affecting overall data as a whole. This is mainly due to barrier to access of care for the impoverished (hence HEDIS criteria for Social Determinant of Health screenings), which indicate the rise is due to lack/barrier of access to care, including access to vaccinations. Thus under-vaccinated children play a role in the rise of infant mortality rates.
