In post-acute care, bathing is part of rehabilitation support. When the bathing suite is treated like an extension of the therapy gym, it becomes a place where residents rebuild tolerance for activity, practice safer movement patterns, and regain confidence in daily routines that matter for discharge readiness.
Transitional care needs also show up clearly in the bathing suite. OT can use bathing sessions to coach adaptive sequencing, pacing, and safer transfers in a controlled environment, and the move from bed-bath routines to a calmer, spa-like experience can be a meaningful psychological boost that supports better engagement in PT/OT.
