What we do matters. Our staff works tirelessly and deals with more situations in a week than most people do in their lifetime. It's not an exaggeration, it's just the reality of our line of work and we wouldn't change it. Every now and then we have someone express gratitude that makes our souls smile. Our latest Resident of the Week is Corey A!
"My journey is not defined by great length of time, prison, or homelessness as many of my peers have had to endure, but a careless attitude concerning the use of alcohol. It started with one bottle of wine and the rest is history. I thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for allowing this difficulty in my life and for never leaving nor forsaking me. I also thank Him for using Hazelbrook Sober Living to help me see the truth of where my life was heading. I thank the counselors, coaches, and the entire staff of Hazelbrook for believing in me. And to all the clients of Hazelbrook, current and future, Hazelbrook is a stepping stone; a building block for the rest of your life. Work the program. Engage, be present. About the Role The Peer Support Specialist – DOC Program provides structured peer support to justice‑involved individuals in correctional and parole settings. This role requires professionalism, strong boundaries, and comfort working alongside DOC staff and law enforcement. Employment is contingent upon passing an extensive DOC background check.

Key Responsibilities • Facilitate peer‑led groups and provide one‑on‑one recovery and reentry support • Assist with employment readiness, housing referrals, budgeting, education access, and life skills • Support screening and intake to determine program readiness and placement • Coordinate with Case Managers, Parole Officers, deputies, and Hazelbrook leadership • Connect participants with community mental health, recovery, education, and employment resources • Complete timely documentation and meet billing/reporting requirements • Represent Hazelbrook professionally within DOC facilities

Must Have • CCAR Peer Recovery Coach certification (minimum); COPA or NAADAC preferred or in progress • Minimum two years abstinent recovery • Ability to pass DOC background requirements (no s*x offenses, no contraband offenses, no active supervision, no open cases/warrants, no ignition interlock, good IRS standing, no close relationships with incarcerated/supervised individuals, ability to pass UA) • Active malpractice insurance • Experience facilitating groups • Strong communication skills with DOC and law enforcement partners • Proficiency with Google Workspace and documentation systems • Reliable transportation • Strong boundaries and alignment with Hazelbrook ethics • Availability that does not conflict with other Hazelbrook roles

Location & Hours • In‑person across the Denver metro area • Monday–Friday, no weekends or holidays • 20–40 hours per week based on program needs

Compensation • 1099 contract • $21.00–$24.50 per hour, depending on experience and credentials
