At Social Concepts Therapeutic Services, Mrs. Annette Hughes champions wellness for youth, individuals, couples, and families. Her mission is to support personal growth toward THE moment of self-awareness. All therapeutic sessions are led with compassion in a safe and supportive environment. Social Concepts and Development Services is a nonprofit that promotes overall wellness for individuals, families, and the community by promoting the SAMHSA 8 Dimensions of Wellness. Annette Hughes, LCSW, SCADS has been a beacon of hope and health in Metro Atlanta for over a decade. With signature wellness offerings like Wellness Day South Cobb, workshops, and more, SCADS provides wellness for the entire community.

Please join me in congratulating the new Chief of Police for the Austell Police Department, Chief Shameta Jones-Harrell. Chief Harrell received a unanimous vote of 6-0 at tonight’s city council meeting making her the first female Chief of Police throughout the history of Cobb County. We are so proud of her and and we know that she will do a phenomenal job in this role.

Georgia is ranked 39th in the nation in child and family well-being in the 2025 KIDS COUNT Data Book, released today by The Annie E. Casey Foundation, falling two spots from 2024. This ranking marks a troubling reversal after making progress in recent years as Georgia notably slips in economic well-being. Georgia continues to struggle in the family and community and health domains, reflecting an increase in our child and teen death rate and only a nominal improvement to our stubbornly high low-birthweight rate. bit.ly/4ky50ZZ
