🌱 Did you know? October 10th is World Mental Health Day! On this day (and every day) we recognize the importance of raising awareness, increasing knowledge, and promoting actions that enhance mental health. We’ve come a long way in reducing stigma around mental health issues, and we still have a significant way to go. Today we celebrate and acknowledge the fact that mental health is a human right.
For a quick mental health reset, try some of our favorite tips:
1) Go outside!! Spending time in nature is a great way to quiet our minds and hit the reset button. Getting natural sunlight also helps boost our vitamin D levels which are essential in fighting off depressive symptoms.
2) Limit your screen time. While not all screen time is created equal, spending too much time on social media or doomscrolling can have negative effects on mood and sleep.
3) Reach out!! Part of reducing the stigma around mental health issues is opening up to people you know and trust. Community is essential for mental wellbeing

If you notice anxiety arising every time life "smooths out" or becomes less chaotic this could likely be a trauma response. Our nervous systems become accustomed to the environment that we're in and that could mean thriving on a chaotic environment. The goal is to notice and acknowledge this and begin retraining our nervous system through self-regulating practices (breathing, movement, energetic healing practices, etc), and of course seeing a licensed therapist.
