The Inclusive Eating Disorder Specialist Certification is available for preorder now! Veronica Rocha and I, as well as many other skilled clinicians, have dedicated countless hours to this project over the last two years. We did this because of our own need for a robust, high quality training for our staff clinicians. We saw the same frustration in the many ED professional communities online—very limited options for ED trainings for certification, especially ones that are social justice oriented and inclusive.

This is a labor of love and we are beyond excited to finally put this offering out into the world. Accessibility, HAES, and a firm anti-racist stance anchor this program. The training is based both on loads of research as well as our cumulative professional and lived experience working in this community. This training is geared for therapists and dietitians, but it is very comprehensive and would benefit anyone working in this field.

Our new Parent Education & Support Group will be starting soon! ✨
This group will be run by one of our great dietitians and therapy interns who strive to create an informative and connected space for parents or caregivers.

Being a parent or caregiver is not easy, especially if you have a child that is struggling right now. This group is a great place to gather nutrition education and coaching, along with finding support from other within a safe and nonjudgemental space.

Reasons why you don’t have to LOOK a certain way to have an eating disorder 🧠

If you are worried that a friend or loved one may have an eating disorder, know that you can't go soley based on looks. However, when noticing worrisome signs - someone not eating, dropping a significant amount of weight in a short period of time, exercising for several hours a day, eating in secret or hiding food - that could be a reason to encourage them to seek help from a professional.

Eating disorders are about more than just food and weight.💡

Eating disorders can’t always be seen just by looking at someone. The biggest misconception is that an individual has to “look sick” to be struggling from an eating disorder, when in reality, there are symptoms that are less obvious and easier to hide.

It’s easy to compare ourselves with others and have thoughts that diminish our own struggles with eating disorders. Remember that your struggles are valid no matter how small or big they may seem, and you do not have to tackle everything on your own!

Eating disorders can impact individuals physically, emotionally, and/or behaviorally. You can have an eating disorder no matter what body type you have. It does not discriminate and there is no age limit to experiencing an eating disorder. It is complex and symptoms vary from person to person.

I am worthy and loved for simply being me. ✨

It’s easy to feel like our worth is measured by how we look, our health, or by our productivity... but it’s not. Our worth is a sense of our own value as a human being and that is not something you can lose or discard.

We want to focus on how our worth is not dependent on our “health,” because there is a lot of misconceptions on what a “healthy person” is defined as in our society. The truth is health looks different for everyone and it is not a certain weight, a certain look, or certain life-style.

Health is more about behaviors, not weight. You get to pursue health if you want to, and that is defined by what that means to you, not by others, in the body you have right now.

Be kind to yourself and remind yourself that YOU ARE WORTHY 🤍

Here is a reminder that YOU ARE SO MUCH MORE THAN A BODY🌿

People often think that accepting their bodies means always feeling confident in their bodies...but that's not true.

The reality is that everyone has insecurities and it's hard to always be accepting of our bodies and be confident in it. However, you do not have to love your body all the time in order to appreciate and honor everything your body can do.
