We’re here to crush that argument once and for all. Being a woman who lifts heavy weights won’t make you bulky, manly, or look like a she-Hulk.
You’d have to really bulk up your diet to bulk up your body.
You don’t expect to lose weight just from working out—you know that a clean and healthy diet is part of the equation too. Well, same goes for getting bigger.
You won’t wake up with insta-muscles.
If you do a few bicep curls and eat some spinach, you’re not going to wake up looking like Popeye. It takes weeks/months of consistent effort to see that toning.

To make:
Ingredients
1 lb chicken breasts
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups broccoli florets
1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
1 cup spinach
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella
4 oz cream cheese
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt, or more to taste
Guidelines
Get the chicken ready:
Add Italian spice, black pepper, and salt to the chicken breasts.
One tablespoon of olive oil should be heated over medium-high heat in a big pan.
When the chicken breasts are golden brown and well cooked, add them to the pan and cook for about 5 to 7 minutes on each side.
After taking the chicken out of the pan, put it aside.
Then: Add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil to the same pan and sauté the vegetables and garlic.
Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, approximately 1 minute.
When the broccoli florets begin to soften, add them and simmer for approximately 5 minutes.
Cook the cherry tomatoes in halves for a further two to three minutes.
Add the Cream Cheese and Spinach: Add the spinach to the
pan and simmer for approximately two minutes, or until wilted.
Once the cream cheese has melted and coated the veggies evenly, add it to the pan and stir.
Mix the Ingredients Together!
Nestle the cooked chicken breasts back into the creamy vegetable mixture in the skillet.
Over the chicken and veggies, scatter the shredded mozzarella.
Complete Cooking:
Cover the skillet and lower the heat to a low level.
Allow the dish to simmer for a further five to seven minutes, or until the chicken is well cooked and the cheese has melted.
Take the skillet off of the burner and serve.
Serve the hot garlic chicken over spaghetti or rice, or serve it on its own with broccoli and spinach.

Michele came to me wanting a long-term plan for nutrition. Her goal was to lose belly fat, but to also have more energy while continuing to get stronger. She had been working out diligently for years, but wasn’t seeing the results she wanted. Michele worked with for 6 weeks which helped her to stay really consistent and lose over 7lbs and 7+ inches. During this time she was eating at home more often, drinking more water, staying mindful without dieting…and was pleased that she didn’t feel hungry during the day.
Such a wonderful client, I’m super proud of you Michele.

Let’s chat about the dish I ordered at McKinney this week.
Honey Bacon Brussels Hash:
Smoked bacon and honey roasted brussel sprouts in a potato hash… topped with:
cheese, roasted onions, eggs, goat cheese, and lemon-dressed arugula with a drizzle of chili crisp for some spice.
Run…. Don’t walk. Absolutely delicious. 🤤

Lesley came to me ready to be held accountable for her eating habits. She wanted to be fueling her body well for her workouts, for increased energy, for confidence and beyond. A lot had been thrown at her the past few years and she was ready to start feeling like herself again.
Having accountability support was the game changer needed to stay consistent. Lesley checked in with me everyday while I was making sure she stayed on track, providing suggestions, motivation, and some sweet tough love at times.
I’m beyond lucky that I get to see her often and keep cheering her on!
Losing weight at a more regular, steady pace will ensure that you’re losing mostly fat, not muscle or water, and preserve your metabolism. If any weight loss program tells you that you can quickly lose weight and you don’t even have to exercise… you’re in trouble. And you’re doing it all wrong.

I started having body image issues in Kindergarten. I had to wear a leotard in a Christmas show and I was crying knowing that I was bigger than the other girls. In 4th grade, I started to lean out a little more as I got taller. My parents enrolled me in dance class and I was confident enough to be in the talent show with a friend that year. A few years later, I wanted to dance on pointe ballet shoes, but I was educated that I needed to lose a little weight first before doing that, for safety reasons. That was another reminder that I was bigger than a lot of girls my age, and I hated that, but I lost the weight to be able to participate. Throughout middle school and high school, I exercised a ton, which is how I was able to stay at a healthy weight although I mostly ate whatever I wanted. I was in dance class at least 8hrs per week and was on the dance team in high school. My weight was always on the highest end of the normal BMI chart though, which bugged me. I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at age 16, an autoimmune disease. I was told that I shouldn’t be exercising as much for my joints and was put on many different medications. It was very painful and I had trouble sleeping.
Once high school was over, I put even more weight on. After all, I wasn’t eating at home as much anymore and there was a lot of drinking (shh) and fast-food stops. I got back down to a decent weight for my wedding (at 23 years old – baby I know), but I remember being so disappointed with myself that I hadn’t lost more and looked better for the pictures. A couple of years went by and I remember jumping on the scale after a weekend trip with my husband and I had gone up almost 15lbs! No wonder I felt so awful! Breweries and nachos had become our thing. I quickly got on it and got back to my wedding weight again by “calorie counting”.
Fast forward to my first pregnancy at age 27. I gained 50lbs and it took me a LONG time to get it off. People kept saying it would come off easy, nope, it was hard work. When I got pregnant with my daughter at age 30, I gained 50lbs AGAIN. I’d start out “good” and then just go crazy the last few months with my binge eating. After I had her, I got it off quicker and I even weighed in the 130’s for the first time in my adult life! I had FINALLY figured out how to maintain and did so for 2 whole years, until, we decided to get pregnant again. Except, I didn’t know that I was going to have two miscarriages first. The hormones and stress of that had me gaining some weight again. After I was blessed to have my last baby, I was determined and excited to get healthy and fit again like I was. I created my Instagram account to hold myself accountable. I turned 35yrs old this year and hit 135lbs which was my goal. No calorie restrictions, no excessive exercising, and being OKAY when the scale goes up and down a little bit. I focus now on my measurements and how my clothes fit. I’m fueling my body with foods that are good for me and I’m not overworking anymore. The most important thing is that I feel in control.
I am so incredibly passionate about helping people feel good about themselves because for so long I DIDN’T!! I know that insecure, unhappy feeling. I want to use what I’ve learned on my own journey and in my health coach training to support others in getting where they want to be! Above all else – accountability is KEY.
Whether you want to lose weight, get more fit, or just be healthier overall...I’ll listen to what you’re struggling with and we will come up with a plan to get back on track. From there, I’ll continually check-in to help ensure that you’re actually following our plan. Life is too short to feel bad about yourself. When you feel good and implement healthy choices, it’ll spread out into the world.
