Winter ice storm prep gets especially involved when you’ve got lots of garden beds and plants to cover and bring in. Duke is our special helper, he’s 15 years wise so you can trust he did a solid job to tuck those plants in. We have beds in the backyard, and in a community garden down the street, along with innumerous containers that all get taken inside. Our tree house transforms to an indoor jungle. At the farm herbs and flowers are tucked away safe and sound under freeze cloth and mulch. Nasturtiums did not make it, except for one strong one I am hoping survives above all odds. (You can do it lil friend!)
The drying rack is full of a menagerie of medicinal herbs trimmed back a bit before the frost- just in case 👀
In the last pic you can see what hard work this is for creatures who live to be cozy, so that’s where we’re at.
In the meantime, we are drinking Draught of Nourishment nutritive tea blend, testing out our hot cacao blends diligently, and dreaming up some nutritive soup/broth herb mixes for you.
May your tea and soup be full of ginger and rosemary this weekend!!
