Has your family gotten its whooping cough booster lately? Texas is seeing a surge of over 3,500 whooping cough cases, leading to a statewide health alert.

Diseases we used to fear, like smallpox, polio, measles, and more, have been largely tamed thanks to vaccines. Because of them, we’ve eradicated or dramatically reduced once-deadly illnesses. But vaccine-preventable spikes like this show we can’t let our guard down.
