Raise your hand if you've believed at least one of these. 🙋♀️
I hear these beliefs from clients every single week — and none of them are your fault. Diet culture is loud, persistent, and profitable. Here are 5 things it told you that simply aren't true:
1. Carbs are bad for you.
Carbohydrates are your brain and body's preferred source of fuel. Cutting them out doesn't make you healthier — it makes you exhausted, foggy, and obsessed with the foods you're avoiding.
2. You need to earn your food.
You don't burn calories at the gym to "deserve" dinner. Eating is a basic human need — not a reward system.
3. Skipping meals helps you lose weight faster.
Skipping meals leads to intense hunger, poor energy, and usually eating past fullness later. Your body works better when it's fed consistently — not punished.
4. Healthy eating has to be complicated.
Real nourishment is far simpler than diet culture suggests.
5. If you just had more willpower, you'd be thin.
Willpower has nothing to do with it. Restriction leads to obsession. That's biology — not a character flaw.
