How do you feel about this? Would you rather wait for the skeleton to fully develop or get a foundation of skills on a young horse but risk the skeletal integrity for them long term? In this example we can see that the vertebrae of a horse isn’t fully mature until 6 years old. Out of all of the horses I have worked on, the most common issue I come across is spinal tension and nerves being pinched in the SI and lumbar joints. This feels important to remember. Being patient and letting a horse fully develop will help both parties in the long run.

This is a great example of full extension in one leg/foot versus hitting toe first in the other. (Her left front) is her problem foot and this is already looking wayyyy better than when we started her journey. These are the things that we the equestrians need to be very patient with. I am not even interested in getting on her until I see a balanced extension on both front feet.

Roamer has entered into his next chapter! After months of decompression, body work, and confidence building, this very sensitive horse is now learning all of those things under saddle! We will always go at our horse’s pace here. Huge credit goes out to .insta for pouring unconditional love and the feeling of safety into this horse. It’s made all the difference in Roamer’s world.

Although I wasn’t dressed in my normal uniform, I got the privilege of working on one of my dear friend’s horses. Her case is incredible, her entire point of hip, was indented. The area had been completely compromised by a an unknown event and she just showed up like this. It doesn’t affect her movement. I was so intrigued I forgot to take a photo. Looking forward to working on this mare again 🙌🏼
