Posted • Did you experience a slow or stalled labor? It can be a very challenging mind game!
One of the best things mom’s support team can do for her in a labor like this is to reassure her. Often, this patient reassurance is all that is needed to let labor unfold.
Sometimes, mom does need some extra hands on support with movements, positioning, and instruction. But this always comes alongside that patient reassurance.
Often, there is no rush to jump in and intervene.
If mom decides intervention is best, we want to address position before adding power. AKA, before attempting pitocin (which is usually the go-to when mom’s labor has stalled in a hospital setting), let’s look at what’s going on in the inside with mom’s body and baby’s position and see how we can help there first.
