I often think of my feelings as a young child in the midst of a tantrum.
All a child wants in that moment is to be heard, to be seen, to be noticed.
When you ignore the child or don't attend to them in the way that they need, they typically don't stop demanding your attention, they get louder. Or they find other destructive ways to seek your attention.
Your feelings are that little child within you asking to be heard.
When we can give them space without judgment or criticism.
When we can observe them from a place of curiosity and kindness.
When we can give them the attention they need.
Then they can leave.
Then they can subside.
