While I always try to priotize repurposing and upcycling, sometimes the discount Valentine’s Day merch rack at tells you what you need.
Featuring Othonna capensis, AKA “Ruby Necklace.” This dainty babe is related to the Senecio genus (home to the string of pearls), but is much less fussy than her cousins. Like many other succulents, she flushes with color when lovingly stressed by sun. Ruby necklace does great in hanging baskets or in taller planter, where it can cascade.

This gorgeous gal must have heard that the Mermaid Capital of Texas Fest was coming up this weekend, so she’s putting on quite a show- three open bloom clusters and one about to pop!
Hoya Obovata is one of my favorite varieties of hoya, as it is a prolific bloomer, less fickle, and a faster grower than other varieties. Hoyas are semi-succulent epiphytes, meaning they store water in their thick, waxy leave and take moisture and nutrients from the air. Excellent for hanging baskets or trellised, these plants make excellent house or porch plants. Obovata flowers have a faint scent of chocolate!
This hanging basket, a healthy obovata “splash” variety, will be available at our booth on Saturday.
