Restorative Fitness is getting an upgrade...stay tuned for details!

We made it to day 31! Standing Eagle is about connecting the breath with movement to open the chest and lungs, grounding the legs by having a strong connection in the back and inner line, and finding an open front of the pelvis by wrapping through the glute muscles. Fly!

Figure 8's are one of the most prevalent movements in Gyrotonic. They can be done is so many ways, seated, standing, with the arms, legs, center...you name it. This is just one variation using sliding discs to simulate the handle unit.

While Chest Pelvic Lift isn't technically from an Upper Body Opening series, it is one of my very favorite ways to use the body weight to both stregthen and open the upper body (and also the lower body!). Consider this exercise a full body opening instead just the upper body.

The tower version of Standing Splits makes your leg *almost* weightless so that you can find space in your back to get your longest line. When taken to the floor your leg weighs SO much more, but you have already found the space with the tower's help so here is your chance to practice finding it without help.

On the tower the psoas is activated by pulling weight towards you. Taken to the floor you can focus on opening the psoas, activating the back leg line by pressing the heel into the floor. Do you feel a difference?

Jackknife on the tower includes weights on the hands. This version on the floor is challenging even without weights, but if you wanted to add resistance you could always choose a band or small hand weights.

07/25/2024

Curl Up into Arch is generally done on the tower with weights. Adding a resistance band or a yoga strap can help you practice this one at home. Pro Tip: Engage your hamstrings!

Cradle Ab Prep connects the whole body to the deep core. Whether it is the smaller or larger version of cradle, I don't think this exercise ever gets easier!
