🌟 We’re proud to share that Alanna Boulton, Central Health Director of Operations for Mental Health & Substance Use, and Dr. John Weems, CommUnityCare Health Centers Associate Director of Addiction Medicine, were selected as Subject Matter Experts by the American Hospital Association (AHA)!

They helped shape national practice guidelines and toolkits to strengthen substance use disorder treatment and care coordination.

Now officially released, these resources will be integrated into AHA programming nationwide, supporting evidence-based care and saving lives across the country.

✈️ Last week, our team was in Washington, D.C., advocating for community health centers as federal funding is set to expire at the end of this month.

The good news: health centers have strong bipartisan support. More than 100 leaders joined the National Association of Community Health Centers’ fly-in, and we met with Congressional offices across our service area to push for continued funding, protect the 340B program, and share patient priorities.

We’re also monitoring recent executive orders on homelessness, immigration, and harm reduction. One thing remains the same—we will continue to provide every bit of care we are legally able to, for every patient we serve. 💙 🩺

In her American College of Healthcare Executives publication, Tara A. Trower draws on Texas’s decades-long experience with Medicaid coverage gaps to offer practical lessons for expansion states facing redeterminations and policy changes.

She highlights five key strategies that have helped CommUnityCare Health Centers maintain care for over 143,000 patients last year—even amid fluctuating Medicaid coverage.
