Healing isn’t linear. It’s cyclical.

Day turns to night and into day again.
Spring to summer to winter to fall.

Nature consists of cycles, patterns and rhythms. Some we can see, and some we cannot. Growth, and thus healing, follow the same cyclical pattern. This is especially true if you’ve been struggling with something for a long time.

Most likely you’ll make progress, experience a setback, make progress again, another setback, and it continues. This can happen as you’re simultaneously moving in the upward direction. And if you look closely, you’ll notice that even though you’re experiencing pain again, it’s less severe or maybe it doesn’t last as long. Over time we hope that the intensity of pain decreases and the duration of pain flares decreases.

When you expect healing to happen linearly, you end up disappointed when you experience pain or symptoms again. But this isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of progress. Life happens and your body naturally goes through changes and cycles.

If you start paying attention to the subtleties, you’ll see where the growth and healing is taking place. If this is hard for you to notice, or you feel like you’ve been stuck in a plateau for ages, working closely with someone one-on-one can be an excellent way to come out of the rut.

Healing is always possible, but rarely is it linear.

I relate! Do you? 🙋🏽‍♀️

One of the biggest misconceptions is that pelvic floor PT is only for people who have had babies and now p*e themselves when they sneeze (or cough, run, jump, etc.). The truth is that ANYONE can struggle with pelvic floor issues, and it goes way beyond just p*eing yourself a little.

If you're struggling and not feeling like your best self, put an end to that today. Are you ready to take action? ✨

With pelvic floor rehab, it's very important to address the body in a particular order. We shouldn’t overload the pelvic floor if we haven't first made sure the foundation is set. This is especially important for mamas and mamas-to-be.

Relaxation and flexibility are at the bottom of the pyramid as the first things to address. This is often a very overlooked area of pelvic rehab, especially if you aren't working with a professional. If you're following an exercise program that's taking you from baby to barbell in a matter of weeks, and you haven't practiced letting go of your pelvic floor, stretching and relaxing, then you're not going into your strength training with the best foundation you could.

Or maybe you're following a program, you did focus on breathwork and stretching, but then you skipped the full-body strength training and went straight for burp*es and jump squats.

The best way to the top is by taking all the steps.
