We are incredibly honored to share that half Helen has been selected as a recipient of the Ogletree Deakins Homer Deakins Service Award, along with a generous $40,000 donation in support of our mission.

This award recognizes half Helen’s humanitarian work and will directly support our efforts to expand access to vision care, provide glasses to students in need, and continue building programs that remove barriers to care for families in our community.

Ogletree Deakins is one of the world’s premier labor and employment law firms, recognized globally for its leadership in workplace law and its commitment to strengthening communities through service and philanthropy. From our kids clinics to community care, Dr. Lagunas has made an incredible impact by seeing 1,427 patients in her first year alone. Beyond routine eye exams, she’s provided education and diagnostics for more complex cases, helping patients better understand and protect their vision—and see the world more clearly.

Destiny
One of the friendly faces you’ll see in the clinic, Destiny helps patients find the perfect frames and ensures every pair fits just right. Her bright, bubbly energy and radiant smile light up the entire office.

Frannie
Often the first voice you’ll hear when you call, Frannie helps guide patients through scheduling and answers questions with care. Their warmth and professionalism set the tone for a welcoming experience from the very first interaction.

Alejandra
As one of our incredible technicians, Alejandra helps patients prepare for their visit and feel at ease before seeing the doctor. Her calm, reassuring presence creates a smooth and supportive experience every step of the way.

Our pediatric program is growing—and that’s a good thing. More students are getting the eye care they need to succeed. But we’ve officially exhausted funding for student exams, and 175 students are still scheduled for Vision Field Trips this semester. To close this gap, we need to raise $10,000 to ensure every child receives the care and glasses they need.

$60 = one student’s exam
$1,250 = an entire class

With state testing around the corner, clear vision can make all the difference.
