Need a TCM-approved recipe to lift your spirits going into the New Year?

Check out this warming mulled wine that can be adjusted to be sweeter or spicy based on your preferences. Build Blood and Yang while getting your drink on this holiday.

Special thanks to guest writer, Analicia Garcia for her last two blogs. She has promised us more in 2024!

The time has arrived for celebration of the simultaneous ending and beginning of the year. In TCM, death and life are synergistic and always intertwined. The endings and new beginnings that New Year’s Eve to New Year’s Day represent is a wonderful symbol of this ongoing interplay. As we come tog...

Check out this lovely reflection by guest writer Analicia Garcia about the transition of Autumn into Winter, and ways to support yourself through this season with nutritional and herbal allies for the dry, cold months ahead.

As we enter the first few weeks of December, the chillier season surrounds us in full. In TCM, this is the season of looking and moving inward, in preparation to store energy for the winter. We see this in the way small animals harvest their food and how trees let loose their leaves for the frost. H...

This is a really fascinating piece that reviews some of the the themes of the Year of the Metal Ox, and anticipates the flow of the Year of the Water Tiger. It is long, but it is well worth the read.

Thank you Cass Naumann for turning me on to this piece.

Birth is the cause of death. Everyone ages, falls ill from time to time, and eventually dies. Old age and illness, however, are not the cause of death but simply a natural unwinding of the...

What do you know about the Lunar New Year? This holiday, celebrated by over 20 percent of the global population is most commonly celebrated in East Asia, and by those of East Asian descent. For myself though, I have always appreciated celebrating what feels like a more logical new year (based on an actual new cycle in the moon, rather than an arbitrary date on the calendar). Plus, I love the food!

This Tuesday, February 1st, will be the beginning of the Year of the Water Tiger... a year of abundance so long as we are able to lean in to the flow.

Here's a great article on the Lunar New Year... make sure to watch the stunning dance piece by Alex Wong called "Capture of the Tiger."

For some, Chinese astrology is a guide to making responsible decisions. For others, it's fun folklore. Either way, what should we know about the Year of the Tiger?

Interested in my backstory as an acupuncturist?

I'm thrilled to announce another great thing that happened last year... this interview I did with Voyage Austin! In it, I spill the beans on what got me into acupuncture as a teenager, and then again as an adult.

My friend Shelley Hiam did an amazing job of photographing me in my natural environment: treating patients. 💕

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Lindsey Wilder Flatt. Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started? In 2013, I was working at Waterloo Records and trying to figure out what […]

2021 was a huge year of growth, hustling, and hard work! I finished my Institute for Functional Medicine coursework in February, started my business Connection Wellness in March, finished my Doctoral degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in July, and have also been working my tail off between 3 jobs.

I look forward to a year of improved balance, mindful health, and increased connection.

Thank you for being apart of my journey... it means more than you know!
