What is reiki? The answer to this question can be very subjective, but in my experience it is a powerful spiritual and psychological tool to help the mind and body communicate with each other. It neither promotes nor prohibits any religious belief or practices but combines well with meditation and deep breathing exercises.
Why guided meditation? I have found through practice that after a reiki treatment people are usually in the perfect state of mind to have a wonderful experience with meditation. Most especially, people who find it difficult to meditate are likely to find that a reiki session beforehand removes the busyness of the waking mind—allowing for the dreamlike qualities of a good meditation experience to come through. My guided meditations are adapted from hypnosis techniques to help “set the stage” with a description of a peaceful environment. I then transition into quiet drumming to allow people to have their own personal experience.
Why Kokopelli? Some people know Kokopelli as a fertility deity, some as a trickster, some as a common logo for some random consumable product. What has always intrigued me was the story most commonly associated with him: he is an entity which can be invoked anytime, anywhere, by anyone, and he will always bring a gift. But the trick is if you’re prepared for his gift it is a blessing and if you are not prepared it is a curse. It’s easy to see how in a time before modern contraception this story was especially useful in conversations surrounding fertility, and therein lies why I named my practice after him. A good spiritual or psychological experience is like a story with a meaning that is not immediately obvious but with proper understanding can be incredibly helpful.
