🦟 Beware cat owners! Even though cats are atypical hosts for heartworms, they can still cause major health issues.

Within 75 to 90 days after a cat is bitten by an infected mosquito, heartworm larvae can reach the pulmonary arteries, resulting in heartworm-associated respiratory disease (HARD). Signs of HARD include coughing, increased respiratory effort, and vomiting that resemble feline asthma. In some cases, heartworms can mature to adulthood, which can be fatal for cats with smaller hearts.

Providing year-round heartworm prevention is an important part of your pet’s health care plan. If you would like to discuss the various preventives, contact our team at by calling , so we can determine what protocol would best fit you and your pet’s lifestyle.

Eye drops help for a day, but the squinting and tearing keep coming back. If that sounds familiar, the cause might not be an infection. Entropion and ectropion are structural eyelid problems that cause recurring irritation and pain, and they will not resolve without correcting the eyelid itself. At Oliver Animal Hospital, we evaluate these conditions with gentle handling and guide you through every step. Request an appointment if your pet's eye symptoms keep returning.
