DYNAMIC HEALTH CENTER
NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2020

It is indeed a whole new world these past few months. The numbers of covid 19 cases continues to rise. People are struggling, some without jobs. The uncertainty of what we are going through leaves us unsure about our futures. People are staying in and working from home. Families are being families again, if they are not killing each other . Pets and families are getting outdoors more and exercise is a valued time now. Companies are looking at creative ways to conduct business without social contact. In general this pandemic has given us an opportunity to do something we westerners were not prepared for. We are now forced to, or can choose to, sit back and reflect on the things in life that most matter. Is it the pursuit of more money, more possessions, or more status? Or is it the time to reconnect with our families, or finish off some projects that you just haven’t found time for, or dust off some old dreams and bring them back to life, or begin working on the new you? Whatever you decide will be the new you when we get to the new normal, remember that you already have all that you need to succeed. So ask yourself, “What do I want for myself twenty years from now?” See it. Feel it. Taste it. Smell it. Hear it! It is there for you, if you can see it. So take some time for yourself. Do it as if your life depended on it, because it does! And during this time when there is much needed emphasis on equality and fairness, everyone’s health matters. So treat yourself with the love and respect you would treat everyone else. The Youngbloods sang a great song in the 60’s with these lyrics, “come on people now smile on your brother, everybody get together time to love one another right now.” It was fitting in the 60’s as it is now.
There is not much better way to show your love for yourself, than to take the time and energy to keep your body working at its optimal level. I have heard many neighbors talking about how they are eating better, working out more, and feeling better. This, I hope will be the new normal. Take time to properly feed yourself, get more sleep, exercise more, spend more quality time with those you love, and trust that your body knows what it is doing. Because it does! When people ask me about what nutrients they should be taking for build up their body, I ask their body. Through muscle testing, we can figure out what your body is asking for. Does it need more calcium or vitamin C? Your body is the best chemistry lab in the universe. We just have to give it the proper building blocks so that it can repair damaged tissue. If you are having a health issue that has not gone away, ask me about it. It may just be a nutritional deficiency.
And remember, the brain is the big old computer that is running the show. It sends its messages to the rest of the body via nerves. If your spine is not moving properly, then that nerve flow could be compromised. That would lead to dis-ease; and possible organ breakdown. Do not always think that if it not hurting, it is doing fine. Pain is just one of the many indicators that our body needs attention. When was the last time you had your body alignment and spinal function looked at? If it has been over 6 months, then it is time to get on the phone and get your body re-aligned. You do not want your body aging any faster than it needs to because of bad posture.
I will be here for you on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Call (512) 804-1100 to make your appointment. I hope you are taking care of you and your families. I look forward too our next visit. Dr. Richard McCormick DC, Dynamic Health Center, 2111 Dickson Dr, ste 20.

Dynamic Health Center Newsletter
March 2020
Good Afternoon. We are clearly having our lives greatly affected by the corona virus pandemic. Many of my friends and patients have been asking me what I think about the situation and how I am taking care of myself. So here goes!
As a loving citizen of this great country and mankind, I am doing my part to insure that the spread is slowed down so that our hospital systems will not be overburdened with people that have contracted this virus. The rise in some areas, like Italy, was so fast that the truly immune compromised were over running their health care capabilities. The same thing could happen here. If we can slow down, keep our distance, wash our hands often, and only go out when necessary, then the progression should slow down. That would be a good thing for those who are in real need.
At our office, I am asking that patients wash their hands upon entering our suite. I am wiping down the table and pens after every patient visit and am washing my hands after every visit as well. If you are feeling like you may have contracted the virus, then you should contact your primary health care provider. As with Austin spring time, we often have an increase in sinus related symptoms that have the same symptoms as the corona virus. The CDC lists the COVID-19 symptoms as:
The following symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure.*
• Fever
• Cough
• Shortness of breath
If you develop emergency warning signs for COVID-19 get medical attention immediately. Emergency warning signs include*:
• Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
• Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
• New confusion or inability to arouse
• Bluish lips or face
This is all straight from the CDC web site. So the initial symptoms are similar to yearly allergy and sinusitis. As a rule, if you are concerned, call your GP.

I personally am taking extra vitamin C and am taking Congaplex by Standard Process to boost my immune system. If you are interested in acquiring some, feel free to call me (512) 804-1100. I am making sure that I am well hydrated and am getting plenty of rest. We have to remember that we have been given a great body and mind that knows how to fight these types of viruses. You are the one doing the healing. The supplements just give you a boost so that your body is better able to do its job.
At times like these, I think it gives us time to reflect on what is truly important in our lives. It almost forces us to sit and be still. We will get beyond this. The question is, what changes (if any) will you make once we are over the threat, to further assist you in living the life that you dream. I encourage everyone to take the time to ask yourself, “What do I really want in my life?”

This message crossed my desk today and I want to share it with you.
"And the people stayed home. And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently."

"And the people healed. And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal."

"And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed."

Dynamic Health Center Newsletter
December 2016

Someone asked me recently about what kind of chiropractic that I do. What do I specialize in?

I was not sure how to respond, so I answered that I have specialties in sports, extremities and nutrition. I am a Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner, a Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner, and an Applied Clinical Nutritionist.

The truth of the matter is that I am a healer who uses whatever medium or techniques that are
appropriate to help anyone, from babies (yes 1 day old babies have spines too) to senior
citizens. Many of you know that the level of service and care that you receive at Dynamic
Health Center far exceeds the $20.00 copay or $40.00 office visit charges. What we are about is
giving you the best care and recommendations for your current and future health. We are here
to help you along your path; and having a healthy body is a big plus as you move along that
path.

Most people are concerned about the pain they are experiencing in the moment. When that
goes away, they then continue life the way they were going before they hurt. This is a very
common way to live. From a chiropractic philosophy, the body is controlled by the nervous
system and that nervous system is housed within the brain, spine and all other areas of the
body. If there is a “subluxation” or blockage in the nerve flow, then that part of the body is not
getting the electrical juice it needs and will begin to suffer. For most of us, the suffering
continues until there is dysfunction and symptoms like pain, lack of motion, muscle spasms, or
even internal symptoms like upset stomach, diarrhea, or headaches. Through my 21 years as a
chiropractor I have helped many who had these and other symptoms and maladies. Staying
balanced is critical to a long healthy life. Chiropractic is a very vital method to maintain a great
healthy body. Eating good nutrition and having good positive thoughts about yourself and life
are also keys!

While I am in the education mindset, I must confess that I have not done a very good job of
educating you as to what my recommendations would be for total health. I have tended to
address the current ache or pain and then let you go. It is time for me to stand firm in my
beliefs and tell you what you need for healthier living.

I RECOMMEND:
1) Regular chiropractic tune-ups before the wheels start blowing out due to uneven wear.
2) Good nutrition… real food. And nutritional supplements need to be that---real food. We
carry a great baseline nutritional package from Standard Process that contains a multi-
vitamin, multi-mineral, and omega-3 fatty acids. For most people, this General Health Daily
Foundation would tremendously benefit your diet and is an easy way to get your vital
nutrients.
3) Exercise on a regular basis. At least 4 times a week with variety of intensity. Even walks with
your dog count.
4) Taking time to regularly sit quietly and reflect on the many blessing in our life. Sit and be!

What we offer here is a healing environment that is dedicated to helping you live a happier
healthy life. Take advantage of these services. And if you are happy with the level of care,
please share this with your friends and acquaintances. We are accepting new clients and will
assure you that they will get the same level of care that we give to you. As a treat to incoming
patients, I am offering, for the month of December, a Holiday special. I will do the
introductory history, exam and first treatment for $50.00. Brighten up a loved one’s life and
help them begin this new year with a good health plan. Have them call to schedule an
appointment (512) 804-1100. And while you are at it, get yourself tuned up by scheduling your
own appointment.

I look forward to seeing you in the New Year and wish you a very safe, warm and loving holiday!

There is a poster in my office that says, “The Power that made the body, heals the body. It happens no other way.”

This is a very profound statement and is absolutely at the heart of my belief system.

With the advent of the internet, we have gained access to much valuable, and sometime false, information. It is at our finger tips. Toe pain, let’s Google that. I have a headache after running, do I have a brain tumor- check Wikipedia. Web MD says that chiropractic can only help my low back pain and nothing else. All of this and much more information is available at the touch of a fingertip. And if you are my mother’s age, whatever is written must be the truth.

The real truth of the matter, according to Dr. McCormick, is that your body knows how to guide you to the answers you need to heal. Healing is an inside job. If you are in dis-ease, then you have many options. My first recommendation is to get still. Check in with your senses. Where is the pain? When did it start? What do I do to make it feel better? What do I do to make it feel worse? What do I need to do now? Who should I call? The first step to solving any problem is to get still and then to gather information from which to develop a solution.

I recently read the most amazing book by Dr. Joe Dispenza DC. The book is titled, You are the Placebo! In this book, he references many research studies and many anecdotal records that show the amazing power of the human mind and spirit at leading people to healing. A placebo has the power to bring about healing, because the person believes so strongly that it will help, and it does! His basic premise is that you have the innate ability to heal what ails you. Some people might call this mind over matter. Whatever “it” is, we all have that capability.

The problem with that belief is that we have not been taught how to tap into that power. Most of us grew up believing that if we are sick, it is because an “outside” something that has invaded our bodies and made us sick. And once we are sick, we have quick fixes to get us up and running again. I am not denying that in emergency situations, sometimes the quickest and best remedy is a medicine or a surgery. But for the most part, for the ailments that we commonly have, we have not been taught any other alternatives to our healing. Look at how many drug ads there are on the evening television. If you took an evening and counted them, you would be shocked. I have not seen many ads that say, just sit still and see yourself getting better. Not many endorsements for visualizing how you will feel when that upset stomach or itchy skin goes away. We are not taught how our body really works. Dr. Dispenza gives great explanation to these processes.
