🌬️ Grounding During Gatherings
The holidays can be a beautiful time of connection but also a time when old dynamics, expectations, and emotions rise to the surface. 🌲
For many, family gatherings can stir memories, trigger old wounds, or create a sense of tension in the body before a single word is spoken. If this sounds familiar, know that there’s nothing “wrong” with you. Your nervous system is simply doing its job, trying to keep you safe.
Grounding is the practice of reminding your body that you are here, now, and safe enough to breathe. It helps you anchor back into the present moment, so your mind and body can move out of survival mode and into connection.
Here are a few gentle grounding practices you can use this season:
✨ Breathe with intention. Inhale for four counts, hold for seven, exhale for eight. Let your shoulders soften as you do.
✨ Engage your senses. Find one color, one sound, and one texture in your environment that feels pleasant or neutral.
✨ Take a mindful pause. Excuse yourself for a few deep breaths outside or in another room if you need to reset.
Grounding isn’t about pushing feelings away it’s about giving your body enough safety to feel without becoming overwhelmed.
This season, may you give yourself permission to slow down, breathe, and return to your center, one mindful moment at a time. 🌿
