There are times when a family walks through our doors and, almost immediately, their story feels familiar and close to the heart.

Terra recently served the family of Louise, a longtime member of the St. Anthony Marie de Claret Ladies Altar Society, the very same group Terra belongs to. Although she never had the chance to meet Louise in life, Terra already knew of her faithfulness, her quiet service, and the way she poured herself into her church community.

As she sat with the family to plan Louise’s service, they talked about her devotion to St. Anthony’s, her years with the Altar Society, and her role as the matriarch of their family. At one point, Terra shared that she too is a member of the church and the Ladies Altar Society. In that simple moment, she watched something shift.

Shoulders relaxed. Faces softened. There was a shared understanding.

The family knew their loved one was being cared for by someone who understood the rhythm of their church, their traditions, and the value they placed on faith and family.

About a week after the service, Terra saw the ladies of the Altar Society at church. They shared how "blessed" the family felt to have her walk alongside them. But in Terra’s heart, she was the one who was blessed. Blessed to help honor a woman whose life was rooted in the same things she holds dear and blessed to be part of a team that allows her to serve families from the heart.

In this season of gratitude, moments like these remind us how thankful we are for shared faith, familiar faces, and families who welcome us into their stories.
