I’m going to ruffle a lot of feathers with this one.

And guess what?

The GI doctor I met with 100% agreed with what I had to say!

TLDW: GI Map Stool Tests are not my fave test. It only provides a quick snapshot of what’s going on in your gut and there are plenty of ways to improve you digestive health that don’t include expensive tests or supplements.

If you’re looking for evidence-based nutrition support for your uncomfortable digestive symptoms, let’s chat!

I’m accepting 5 new IBS Food Freedom clients for the first quarter of 2026.

So many people with IBS come to me saying the same thing:
“I’m doing everything right… so why do I still feel bloated?” 🤦🏽‍♀️

🎙️ That question is exactly why I chose to go on this podcast.

👀 I see how often gut health advice focuses on eating “clean,” cutting out more foods, or following strict protocols, and how that advice can leave people feeling more restricted, anxious, and symptomatic than before.

❌ When symptoms don’t improve, people assume they’re failing or doing something wrong.

But bloating isn’t a moral issue.

Symptoms aren’t proof that you lack discipline or willpower.

😵‍💫 And for many people with IBS, more rules around food actually make digestion worse over time.

What’s often missing from the gut health conversation is context.
✅ Your nervous system matters.
✅ Your access to food matters.
✅ Consistency matters.
✅ And your body needs enough nourishment and safety to heal.

👉🏽 If you’ve tried elimination diets, supplements, or “perfect eating” and still feel stuck, I want you to know this: you’re not broken.

You don’t need more restriction.

🫶🏽 You need the right kind of support.

🎧 I break all of this down in a recent podcast episode, on www.wholesomestart.com, if you want to hear the full conversation.

💁🏽‍♀️ And if you’re ready to stop guessing and get individualized, non-diet support for your gut, I offer free discovery calls.

It’s a chance for us to talk through what you’re experiencing and see if working together feels like the right next step.

Can I still say Happy New Year even though it’s already mid-January?

I’m going to say yes because gut health (and life) doesn’t follow perfect timelines.

I was recently a guest on a podcast where we talked about why so much gut health advice is actually unhelpful for people with IBS and what to focus on instead.

We covered questions I hear from this community all the time, like:
• Why “eating clean” doesn’t always improve bloating or pain
• How stress and your nervous system can affect digestion more than food alone
• Why cutting out more foods can sometimes make IBS worse, not better
• What sustainable gut support actually looks like without fear or rigid rules

If you’ve ever felt frustrated doing “everything right” and still dealing with symptoms, this conversation was made for you.

🎧 You can watch the episode here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWSxDnTvRVw

I hope it feels validating, informative, and reassuring as you move through 2026. And as always, you’re not broken, your gut just needs the right kind of support.

Let me know in the comments if anything in the episode resonated with you 💬

Struggling with constipation? 💩

You’re not alone and there are science-backed foods and habits that can help 💡

Thanks to for featuring my tips in EatingWell on What to Eat When you Haven’t Pooped in Days!

Of course I shared why kiwifruit can be better tolerated for bloating or IBS, especially while constipated.🥝

I also talk about how ground flaxseed supports regularity and adds gentle fiber 🌾

And why coffee with breakfast can help nudge your gut into action ☕️

I’m now accepting new gut health nutrition clients virtually in Austin and across Texas 💚

New year. Same truth. 🌱

🥳 For so many of my clients, January feels like a fresh start.

🫧 A clean slate.

🤦🏽‍♀️ It’s also the time when diet culture gets the loudest.

❌ The pressure to shrink, avoid, cut out, and “be good” shows up on every corner of the internet.

But here’s what I see every day as a dietitian who supports people with IBS👇🏽

💩 When you’re already anxious about symptoms, restricting more doesn’t lead to relief.

😖 It often leads to a hungrier gut, a stressed nervous system, and a bigger fear of food.

💁🏽‍♀️ You can’t heal a starved gut with more restriction.

👉🏽 Your gut thrives on nourishment and variety
🌈 More colors on your plate
🥝 More fiber-rich foods your microbes love
💕 More flexibility to enjoy what feels good and what brings joy

💭 Imagine stepping into 2026 with the intention to support your gut instead of punish it
➕ To add foods that help you feel energized
🫂 To build trust with your body
✌🏽 To make peace with meals again

💬 So tell me

🤔 What’s one gentle intention you’re setting to nourish your gut this year? 💚

12/24/2025

Do you struggle with any of these symptoms❓

🍽 Before you jump on another fad diet, cleanse, or detox simply ask yourself this one question:

🤷🏽‍♀️ Have you nourished your body consistently and adequately throughout the day?

⏰ This means not going longer than 3-4 hours in between a meal or snack.

Of course this will vary day to day but this pattern of eating can help you get your digestion back to being more regular and support your energy levels.

✈️ If you’re planning on traveling for the holidays, what can you do to make sure you’re nourishing your body to feel your best?

How do you incorporate regular meals and snacks over the holidays?

I said what I said 🙈

💁🏽‍♀️ I’m not saying functional medicine is bad but…

💯 I am saying I’ve seen a lot of people start out “just trying to heal their gut”… and end up terrified of food or with a full blown eating disorder.

👀 If your list of “foods I avoid” is longer than the list of foods you feel safe eating, that’s information worth sitting with.

🫶🏽 Your body deserves care, not constant policing.

☮️ Healing should expand your life, not shrink it.

Are your patients really addicted to food or is it food distress?

Food Addiction or Food Distress? Unpacking the Science and the Way Forward

This conversation cuts through the hype and takes a closer look at what the research actually shows.

You’ll learn why restriction, unmet hunger, and emotional distress drive loss-of-control eating rather than specific foods.

Are you a team naked or furry kiwi?🥝

If your nutrition goal is to eat 2 kiwi a day to keep constipation away, this is for you!

I’ve recently had an obsession is these golden kiwis but can’t eat them with the skin on.

I prefer the smooth skinless option and it’s so delish!

Research has shown that people with IBS-C (constipation) can benefit from eating 2 kiwi/day!

🌟 Here are a few reasons kiwi fruit is great for constipation relief:

⬇️ Reduced colonic transit time (how long it takes for food to travel from your mouth through your digestive tract)

⬆️ Increased bowel movement frequency

💩 Bulks up stool and makes it softer and easier to pass

👌🏽 No side effects compared to other forms of laxatives

🥝 Low FODMAP source of fiber, hydration, and vitamin C

🤔 Have you tried 2 kiwi/day to help with your constipation?

🥳 Happy holidays to everyone except… those icky influencers promoting toxic wellness and diet culture!

👉🏽 Let me tell you a little story.

😩 When I first met one of my clients, she had tried every “quick fix” for her IBS symptoms including detox teas, trendy powders, and even cutting out entire food groups because she thought it was the only way to feel better.

🤦🏽‍♀️ Instead of relief, all she felt was overwhelmed, hungry, and even more anxious about food.

💯 Fast forward to today, and she’s finally feeling free. ✨

👍🏽 By learning what actually works for her unique gut, she’s managing her symptoms without fear-based restrictions or one-size-fits-all advice.

🍱 And best of all, she’s doing it alongside nourishing meals that fit her lifestyle and cultural traditions. 💕

Here’s the truth: 👇🏽
healing your gut and managing IBS isn’t about gimmicks or extremes. ❌

✅ It’s about finding what works for you with the right guidance and support. 🌟

🫵🏽 If you’re tired of diet culture telling you how to live your life, let’s change that together.
