Feeling a bit depleted?
Same, friend! 🙋🏼‍♀️
Life can feel kinda crazy sometimes.
And although a vacation would be nice,
sometimes we come back from a vacay feeling even MORE tired!
How is that possible??

Because often, when we go-go-go in our daily lives
and then we go-go-go on vacation,
our body, mind and nervous system don’t have ample time
to shift out of fight or flight
and into a place where we can feel truly nourished.

I find that small moments of refilling my cup back up are super helpful ☺️
AND nothing beats a rear retreat from daily responsibilities-
one where we are taken care of rather than taking care of everyone and everything else.

If you’re someone who has said “someday, I’ll give myself that gift,”
this is your invitation to make someday today.

Let’s nourish ourselves on the deepest levels
so we come home feeling recharged in our bodies,
refreshed in our minds,
and lit up in our souls 🫶

Let’s retreat in paradise 🤍🏝️

Anyone else out there ever feel like they have to earn rest?
As though time to take care of yourself is a reward…
Like you have to check everything else off your list
before you can take time to just B R E A T H E? 🙋🏼‍♀️

Dude - F- that!
This is an old pattern that creeps up for me sometimes,
especially when I get busy and have a lot on my plate.

I start skipping self-care.
I push off my practices until later in the day.
Or sometimes I just work so hard because I
feel like I can’t rest unless I earn it.
Hello?! No wonder I ended up with chronic migraines 🤪

But all jokes aside, something I have to remind myself
(OFTEN!) is that rest isn’t a reward -
its not just something designated as a gold star at the end of a super productive day.

Rest is essential!
To our mental health and physical wellbeing.
We absolutely HAVE to give ourselves rest, self-love
and time for playfulness in order to keep showing up
for everyone and everything else we have to take care of.

You are not selfish if you take time for you.
You’re actually telling your body that you will care for it,
you’re telling your soul that you matter,
your reminding the people around you that life is so much more
than just hard work…and you might even be giving someone
permission to take care of themselves too.

So let’s prioritize our wellness!
It doesn’t have to be something that takes a long time.
Even short, simple moments of coming home to ourselves
can have a profound impact on calming our nervous systems
and reminding ourselves that we matter.

You matter 🤍
So wha can you do ✨right now✨ that shows your soul
that you truly care? 🤗

Please never underestimate just how powerful
your kindness and love can be.

And not just what you share with others
but especially what you share with yourself 🤍

Making small changes in your inner world
can lead to the changes that you see in the
world around you 🫶

Start with yourself.
Love yourself.
Care for yourself.
BE yourself.
And start to notice how this affects
not only your inner landscape
but the way the world around you feels.

By being kind, gentle and compassionate towards yourself
and the people immediately surrounding you,
a ripple effect takes place.

The world feels it.

So let’s be kinder to ourselves
and take that kindness into the world around us
so that even the tiniest of shifts
can create beautiful changes ✨

The universe has a funny way of making sure I stay humble
and that I’m living what I share 😜
I share a lot about how simple moments
are actually what will create the biggest transformations
in our lives.
And today, while laying with another migraine,
I had the opportunity to reframe the untrue story in my head.

On the days when I feel like I can literally do nothing,
I can breathe.
It’s that simple. I have my breath and I can communicate to my nervous system through slow steady breaths.
And that counts.

Although I had a plan today that didn’t involve laying around in bed, 😜
I got an opportunity to come up with a different plan.
One that invites me to practice what I preach.

So. Today is slow.
Most of my days are slower than the average person -
not necessarily out of want but out of necessity for healing.
But today is even slower. And that’s ok.
The slowness has a purpose too.

I’m getting there. Slowly but surely. I just have to keep trusting my body’s capacity for healing, transforming
and learning new ways of doing things.
And trusting that doing the simplest of things will actually get me closer to where I want to be
instead of feeling like I have to push myself to get there.

So many of us wait…
We wait until we have “enough” time to do the things we want to do.
We wait to care for ourselves until we have a magical pocket of time
that spontaneously appears in our schedule when life says,
“Oh yeah - this is time just for you to take care of yourself.
You don’t have any responsibilities right now.”

I wish! (Seriously.)
Unfortunately I haven’t found the key to Magical Self-Care Calendar Land yet so in the meantime, I am learning to create small moments of prioritizing myself.

Amidst writing, recording & editng weekly meditations,
teaching virtual classes, producing a podcast,
planning a retreat and managing a household,
it can be VERY easy to skip over the moments for me.
But that’s just another recipe for burnout.

What I’ve found the key to be is simplicity.
When we overcomplicate things, we tend to push them off for another day.
I’ll start working out on Monday.
I’ll write my first Substack post after I have the branding created.
I’ll take care of myself after I take care of all my other responsibilities.
Sound familiar to anyone?

When we push our care or dreams aside until the “right time,”
that time tends to never come.
So when life’s calendar is super full (which to my knowledge, when is it ever not?!),
we have to actively prioritize time to reset and come back home to ourselves.

But we often see creating time for ourselves as a whole event.
And the truth is, 3 deep breaths can be time for yourself.
Stepping outside and listening to the birds can be time for yourself.
Doing one (yes, ONE) simple stretch can be time for yourself.

Let’s start treating ourselves with more kindness in the moments in between.
Because those little moments might be all that we actually have right now.
So instead of filling them with taking in more information,
what if we spent them checking in with what we
need to feel good - like, real-life feeling good -
right now?

Don’t wait until your kids are older,
until you have more money,
until you magically have a bunch of free time
to take care of you.
The simple things
in the smallest of moments
really add up.
Let’s start now :)

Whatever it is that you’ve been holding yourself back from doing
because of all the “reasons” why it won’t work,
it’s time to go for it.

You don’t need to overthink this.
Just take the first step.
You will find the right path for you along the way…
because every step towards your dream
will teach you something in order to take the next step
and the next one
and the next one.

But sitting in your head,
“waiting for he right moment”
isn’t getting you any closer to where you want to be.

It’s procrastination disguised as preparation.
It’s fear wearing a mask of organization.

There is no better time than now
to put the overthinking aside
and take even just the smallest step towards your dreams.
Don’t wait to live your life.
Today is the best day to live fully.

Step out of thinking mode and into feeling and moving.
You will gain momentum
you will get closer
you will start feeling good in your soul
when you take one simple step at a time :)

Moving from one task to the next
Scrolling from one piece of information to another
Multi-tasking and doing many things at once
Even moving fast in a car or airplane (way faster than our bodies can naturally move! 😜)
These all can have profound effects on our nervous system.

Unfortunately, our bodies haven’t adapters to our insanely fast-paced way of living yet.
So it’s no wonder so many of us are CRAVING moments
for recharge, rest & ease.

You don’t have to give up the fast pace of your lifestyle…
but I strongly encourage you to carve out pockets in your day
to slow down,
to feel where you are,
And to let your body catch up even if it’s just 1%

Rest isn’t just a luxury anymore.
It’s necessary to our mental and physical health’s survival.

So whether it’s mediating, gentle yoga, taking a Walk,
or just staring at the clouds floating by,
time spent moving slowly isn’t time wasted-
it’s time very well-spent taking care of yourself
so that you can continue to show up as fully as possible
in the rest of your life 🥰

Please, please, please stop comparing yourself
to the things you see on a screen.
Not only do people tend to only share the parts of themselves
that they are ok with and even proud of,
but nowadays, we are up against artificial intelligence too.

If we compare ourselves to what we see on social media,
we might actually be comparing ourselves to something that
doesn’t even exist 😳

Aligning ourselves with real life is more important than ever.
Technology can be a powerful tool,
but please remember it’s just that- a tool.
It’s not what we can revolve our lives around
if we want to stay mentally and physically well.

Keep spending your time with REAL people.
And keep sharing YOUR ideas
and write YOUR thoughts when you share.
Humanity is CRAVING your uniqueness.

I invite you to look in the mirror today
and see just how beautiful you are.
Your humanness is a miracle!
And it’s worth celebrating.

Touch your skin and love yourself for everything
you are and everything you’ve gone through.
You are so much more than a visual representation
captured in an image.
You are an increible soul having a human experience.

Let’s start treating our lives like they are sacred.
Because they are ☺️🤍

Let’s have some fun! 🎉
Sometimes life gets so busy that we forget to be playful.
As though there’s some rule that because we’re an adult,
we’re always meant to be serious 🤪

I know I’ve been guilty of feeling like this! 🙋🏻‍♀️
Taking life too seriously can really affect the joy of our spirit.
So when we take time to tap into even the
smallest moments of feeling uplifted, laughing or having a good time,
life becomes … lighter
and those simple moments of lightness make it all
so worth the hard work we put into everything.

I often say in my live classes, “life can be serious,
but the time we spend on our mat doesn’t have to be.”
So let’s practice together with a little lightness in our hearts.
And maybe, just maybe 😉
we can bring that fun and joy into the world around us as well 🩷
