We’re out Austin!✌️
If you want to catch us in summer 2024…
PK will be living that box life, packing for her move, and eating as much queso and breakfast tacos as she can before leaving!
You can find Melinda on her Thursday night bike rides with RBA or dancing at Barbarellas on the weekends!
Cleo will spend the summer swimming and continuing her acupuncture journey in school, learning how to poke people!

It’s been a pleasure!🥺

It is with the heaviest of hearts to say that after 14 amazing years, PK Acupuncture and Wellness will be closing on Thursday, May 30th.
I will be moving my family to Massachusetts this summer to be closer to our family there and assist them where we can.
It was a very hard decision for my family to make and this clinic, and all of you, were the hardest part about it. I’ve loved being able to help where I can and am honored to have been a part of your community. I love what I do because I get to work with the coolest people.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
This photo is from when the clinic first opened in 2010, treating my first and favorite patient, my husband Joe.
If you haven’t already, active and current patients, please check your email and portal for further information. Our last day in the clinic will be May 30th, 2024.

Did you know that April is National Stress Awareness Month?😖
Warmer weather usually brings about more Yang symptoms which can make people more prone to things like stress, anger, and irritability. Typically this is more common in the late summer, but here in Austin our summer tends to come a bit early😅
It’s important during this time to acknowledge how we’re feeling, and take time to exercise, see friends, relax, and maybe even have some acupuncture😉

Happy Earth Day! 🌎
In TCM the earth element emphasizes letting things grow naturally, it does so through stillness. Sometimes for us to grow and move forward we have to be still, let things around us occur, and follow a natural path without forcing anything! We encourage you to be still this earth day, take some time to reflect, and appreciate the earth!

In ancient Chinese culture, Solar Eclipses were thought to occur due to a celestial dragon eating the sun 🐉
It was thought to be an omen that the current Emperor’s reign would be ending soon, as it represented the light being extinguished on their reign. Solar eclipses represent a wave of extreme yin which can result in a lack of confidence, extreme fatigue, and lower self esteem; for those who typically have lower energy levels it may be best to stay inside rather than watching the eclipse today!🌞🕶️

Are you having trouble sleeping?🥱The worst thing you can do when trying to fall asleep is worry about how you’re not falling asleep! This breathing technique is called Small Heavenly Circle, it’s a variation of a Qi Gong breathing technique and its what we recommend for when you’re laying there trying to sleep. This technique forces you to focus on your breath, so even if you aren’t falling asleep, your body is still getting some of the rest it needs! Imagine seeing the Qi move throughout your torso as you breathe:
- Inhale: From the nose to the diaphragm
- Exhale: From the diaphragm to the uterus/prostate
- Inhale: From the perineum to the kidneys/mid-back
- Exhale: From the kidneys, up the back, and back to the nose

Let us know how this technique works for you!

Did you know that Chinese culture also has celebrations with dyed boiled eggs?🥚
In Chinese Medicine, eggs are a symbol of fertility, they are a balanced food with the yolk being yin and the white being yang. Those struggling with fertility are actually recommended to consume eggs as a part of their treatment because they are so nutrient dense🤯Traditionally, when babies are born they aren’t named until their first birthday, when this day comes there is often a big celebration and the hosts hand out boiled eggs that are dyed red to symbolize the spread of fertility and prosperity to their friends and family!

Now that Spring is here it’s important to focus on Liver support! 🌸✨
In TCM, the Liver is the organ that is associated with the Spring. The Liver is a stress organ, it detoxes the body and cleanses the blood. Emotionally, it deals with confrontation and frustration. If you’re feeling a lot of these emotions lately it might be good to find an outlet like exercise, meditation, or stretching. One of the signs of an overworked liver can be sighing a lot or randomly crying throughout the day, this is your liver trying to soothe itself! Help your liver out by watching a cheesy tearjerker or swapping out an alcoholic beverage for a tangy non-alcoholic one.
For some extra liver support, book an acupuncture appointment using the link in our bio!

Happy Birthday to PK and Happy Spring Equinox!🌷Swipe to see what recommendations TCM has for the springtime! The organ that is most important in the Spring is the Liver. Spring is about growth and expansion. It’s important to start eating foods that are lighter in nature like salad greens, in season fruits and veggies, lighter vinaigrettes, and foods that have tangy/bitter flavors. This is also a good time to try a new workout routine and incorporate things like stretching and yoga to support your tendons and sinews. Try synching up your schedule with the sun, like a flower, blooming during sunlight hours and closing up when it’s dark. Spring is an important transitional time to wake your body up from the winter and to make sure that it’s ready for Summer!
If you need a little help, come into the clinic for a spring acupuncture tune-up! Use the link in our bio to book an important or call 512-650-8880!

Ever wonder what the scrolls in the office mean?🧐 We’re here to interpret a couple for you!
The first translates into “Hua Tuo reborn”, Hua Tuo was a famous doctor of acupuncture, herbal medicine, moxibustion, and even surgery in the Eastern Han Dynasty. He is still a very prominent figure in the acupuncture community today!
The second scroll says “Phyllis Kung” it’s PK’s name fully written out🤯
All of these scrolls were made by PK’s mom and biggest supporter who’s featured in the third photo!👏
