If you're sick and tired of being sick and tired, it may be time to try a different kind of medicine. It's still used today because it works.
Most people notice improvements within just a couple of treatments. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been around for over 5,000 years. We use traditional balance-method acupuncture, cupping, and moxa to help relieve pain and stress. Allergy Elimination Technique and Nutritional Response Testing are used for more complex, internal disorders like hormone problems, digestive distress, and immunology. Now we also offer online courses in pain management. In 2019, my dear friend, Jonathan Kruger, "J-Kru," passed suddenly and unexpectedly.
His memorial was "unchurched," unorthodox, and unexpectedly ... fun?
Anyway, I wrote an article about it in Elephant Journal if you want to check it out.
Thereâs an exerpt uploaded on my blog about this yearâs Chinese astrological forecast if you want to check it out (itâs in my bio link).
In it is my favorite story about the personality (and shortcomings) of the Dragon.

Weâre a couple of weeks away from the lunar new year đ§§. This year is in the sign of the Wood Dragon đ.
I recorded an interview with my friend whoâs a Chinese astrologer and we dive into the themes of this astrological year, what to expect and how compatible the other signs are with the dragon, as well as how to read the Chinese astrological birth chart (called BaZi). Hint⊠the year you were born is *not* the only factor!

As a dragon đ myself (*checks claws đ for imperfections*), I can tell you that we project confidence, but it's mostly just for show. Internally, we struggle just like the muggles.
Reading a good quality self-help book is a nice mental refresh. Also, a humorous tome, a biography of someone we admire, or a murder mystery (for entertainment purposes only) is the perfect diversion from the daily hassle of trying to take over the world.
Find out more about the year of the dragon and what it has in store for YOUR SIGN at our next workshop on the 2024 Wood Dragon Year. I already recorded itâŠso go give it a listen to get a head start. You can acess the online workshop by signing up at www.nhcaustin.com/QPH
OH! And I also wrote a blog about the 2024 new year predictions⊠you can read it here:
I have a new free guidebook for you to downloadâŠ
If you have shoulder or hip issues (tension, pain, sciatica, stiffness, pop-lock-and-drop syndrome, etc.), try these exercises out.
They're nothing new - you've probably seen them all before - BUT your body changes over time. Every day you don't move and stretch you get STIFFER.
These movements are designed for regular use. If you haven't worked on your MOBILITY in a while, maybe it's time to start back on a regular routine. (is that... a resolution???)
Include the dog or the kids... Just make sure you keep the alignment!
Posture is key to preventing and treating chronic pain. It's the first step (of 3). Lat pull-downs help strengthen the part of your shoulders that keep them from crawling up by your ears all tense and tight.
Therapeutic exercise helps you heal from chronic tension and pain as long as you: (1) align your posture (2) activate the strong muscles and (3) breathe. It works for EVERYTHING. Skip one of the steps, and it isn't as effective.
DM me with any questions you have about your shoulder pain or tension.

Wood is a âHeavenly Stem,â of which there are 10: 5 Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water) and Yin and Yang versions of each.
Dragon is one of the 12 âEarly Branches.â
The cycle of pairs of Heavenly Stems (10) and Earthly Branches (12) repeats every 60 years. So if youâre a Wood Dragon, happy 60th Birthday đ„ł!
Traditionally, the Chinese zodiac is kind of like an Almanac - weather precictions for farmers.
2024 - especially from April (the Dragon MONTH) to December (the Rat month) will be some âwild-n-wooly weather.â
Since the Dragon đ is an Earth sign, could be earthquakes, fires, etc. đ
So what does this year have in store for us?
Check out my recent blog post below thatâs now up on bio link and if you want to go even deeper, watch the full hour interview with my friend and astrologer Christian. You can access the online workshop (and the rest of my workshops!!) by signing up at www.nhcaustin.com/QPH
Itâs a powerful herb đż that can be taken long-term for the right person/situation IF you also take breaks from using it. For example, 3 days on, 4 days off, etc.
You need to give your system time to remove the fungus. Garlic, green / peppermint tea can also help with this.
đ Fun fact: most sinus infections are FUNGAL in nature. I had a terrible cough that wouldnât go away for MONTHS. The typical TCM cough herbs werenât really working. I was desperate. Finally, I figured it out. It was a fungus, not a virus, not bacterial.
Antibiotics? They just make it worse!

Fun fact: your Chinese Zodiac year is not your only zodiac sign!
Just like Western astrology, our horoscope isnât only our sun sign.
We are the sum of all the characteristics that make up the whole of our chart. And when it comes to Chinese astrology (known as BaZi), we are characterized by the hour, day, week, month and year we are born.
I deep dive into this in my interview with my friend who is studies Chinese astrology and we go into the themes that the Wood dragon brings us in 2024, as well as how each of the zodiac animals pair with the dragon energy of this year.

Acupuncture can help you achieve the health and vitality you need to enjoy your life.
For 5,000 years, Oriental Medicine, which includes acupuncture and herbal therapies, have been helping people get out of pain, feel more energy, and clear their minds. Wellness is not found in one single isolated item â like a drug. Healing your body at a cellular level and maintaining that vibrancy is wellness.
I got into Oriental Medicine in the late 1990s when I was suffering from a bunch of health conditions that Western medicine was unable to fix. I had skin problems, fatigue, headaches, and abdominal bloating. And I was only 20 years old! The acupuncturist I saw helped me fix my diet (which I thought was healthy, but it was imbalanced for my constitution and lifestyle) and relax. Within a month I felt completely transformed. Then I knew I had to learn how to do this system of medicine myself.
After I finished my undergraduate degree at the University of Texas, I went to Acupuncture School at the Texas Health and Sciences University and received my Masterâs in Oriental Medicine in 2003. I opened the Natural Health Center of Austin that year.
I love what I do and am so excited to help people get healthier every day.
Our team of acupuncturists and herbalists specialize in immune care including but not limited to seasonal and food allergies, digestive complaints, hormone imbalances, and auto-immune issues. Many times we can figure out why an issue is recurring and get to the root of it without using complicated and dangerous pharmaceutical drugs.
Oriental medicine treats your body as a whole. When you come into my office with a health issue, Iâm not just looking at that problem. Weâll also discuss your lifestyle, diet, and stress levels. Weâll discuss the right foods for your body and what herbs may be helpful to include.
So even when we focus on one area of your body, you will notice lots of things improving at the same time.
Imagine having tons of energy, not needing prescription drugs to feel normal, and moving around and doing exactly what you want to do because your body has no pain. Imagine hanging out with people who are coughing and sneezing and not having any worries about getting sick because your immune system is so strong. Imagine having a restful sleep at night and waking up ready to go in the morning.
All of our treatments are all-natural, time-tested therapies with little-to-no side effects except feeling better. Within a couple of weeks â at the most â you should start to feel improvement.
We can treat the health problems that you would normally see a family physician for. But we do this without the side-effects of medications or surgeries.
