I’ve worked with clients for decades and while most think they know what strength training is sadly, a lot of it is actually based on an industry and a marketing team that has sold the “instant gratification” model of having 6 pack abs in 5 minutes videos instead.
Everyone needs to have the mobility and flexibility first for long term joint health. To keep the surgeons away and avoid injury. When you’re in your 20’s and early 30’s you can get away with a lot more than late 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and beyond. The bad habits formed as a youth create disc bulges and other postural issues.
Then there’s the daily sitting at a computer or desk for hours on end. This creates more tightness and compression. Which also means the short and tight fascia, muscle…equals dehydration in the joints… that crunching sound you hear when you take a step is dehydration and compression from poor movement and postural issues.
And how do you hydrate- it’s not simply by drinking water… yes, that’s part of it… but it’s also about making sure water molecules move through the Fascia and into those tight spaces. Mobility, flexibility… Eldoa- open the spaces.
Your body holds a lot in the tissues- traumas- sadness, pain… so most people don’t want to sit long enough to create the mobility and release it. Rather, they prefer to jump into a boot camp class and…later will have injuries.
Avoidance of emotion and feeling is a big part of our culture. But, it’s all connected to the physical body. So, if you truly want to be healthy- focus and go into breath-work with the stretch, the mobility, the flexibility of body/mind & spirit. Release it, on the other side is peace, love and compassion. It’s all connected.💗💪 Then your body can do all types of strengthening- true strength with a balanced body that can handle the load.
