Toxins are hard to escape. They’re found in the foods we eat, water we drink, products we put on our bodies, and in the air we breathe.

While it’s nearly impossible to avoid all of the toxins, there are lifestyle changes you can implement to reduce your toxic load and the stress they put on your body. We regularly work with clients to help make these changes, and to support drainage in the body to naturally remove toxins.

As we work to detox your system, it’s important to detox your environment as well. Household cleaning products are the most obvious entry point for toxins into the home, especially heavy duty cleaners, but everyday products like candles, beauty and cosmetics, cookware and food storage, and even clothing can add to your toxic load.

Everyone is talking about protein. How much do I need? What are the best sources? Should I supplement with protein powder?

Adequate protein intake is crucial for well-functioning mind and body systems, and plays a foundational role in your health, especially for:

At The Spring we follow the general guideline of consuming ~1 gram protein per pound of your healthy, ideal body weight per day. Meat, poultry, and seafood are the best sources of protein - look for keywords like organic, pasture-raised, grass-fed, wild-caught - and eggs, beans, nuts and seeds, and dairy are all great protein sources as well.

If you’re vegan or vegetarian, it’s important to pay even closer attention to the types of protein sources you’re consuming because most plant-based foods are incomplete proteins. Soy is one plant protein that contains all the essential amino acids, but grains and legumes are complementary proteins when eaten together.
